stock vehicle...over 100 mph

Sh;t man! Best of luck with your wife. My factory tach on my GSXR is pretty accurate past 90mph:haha:. I guess thats a whole different story though.

A buddy of mine has an 02 ranger it shuts down at 90mph. and i've gotten my K5 stock except 33's to 110mph. speedo only goes up to 85 but i had a friend following me o and it was downhill.

i know that my 02 1500 will 94mph... cause thats what my speeding ticket was for.... and it will shut off at 97mph

Tom

p.s. i have no need to go that fast anymore

thanks for the well wishes....she is scheduled for another ekg tomorrow to see if she has an irregular heartbeat(arrhythmia) or just unexplained high pulse(tachycardia)...i hope she doesn't have an arrhythmia...but it all stems from a post traumatic stress disorder from repressed memories(from when she was 11-13 1/2 yrs old) that came flooding in on her, but thats something i really don't want to get into here

can can is supossed to call me tonight and talk b/c what she repressed, is understandable why they were repressed, but has me wanting to kill

i've got an 06' supercharge grand prix - it shuts down at 127, but thats at about 3700 rpm's and it reds at 5500. I should un hook the VSS grab th GPS and go for a ride !

Are you sure that you weren't reading KMH, not MPH? :eek1:
140 MPH in a PathFinder is basically MACH 1 - super Sonic for that type vehicle.:haha: It would take afterburners

My stock 95 Impala did 130 with no problem, and I backed off because of a curve in the road. It has z rated tires from the factory, so maybe that is why there was no speed governer at that speed. High speed is not my thing, but I have heard LS1 camaros will do 150 ish.

With a little work it will go much faster.. I love those cars. They are practicaly a family mans corvette.

My 96 Blazer and dads 97 S10 shut down at 95, both would bust 100 easy I bet the S10 would get around 115.

Moms 99 Regal shuts down at 105, same as my sisters 98 Century.

I havn't topped out my company truck but id guess 95. I bet it could hit 120 pretty easily. Id guess my old beaters all broke 100. Im fairly certain the K10 hit 110 ish one time. I was catching a kid pretty good and his car topped at 105.

Well, If you say you saw it register 140 MPH, then that's what it registered. You have to agree though that your lucky the Flux capacitor wasn't armed or you would have warped back to 1985 once you hit 88 MPH.:haha:

My first K5 would bury the speedo, but I know it was only moving at about 70 MPH.

My brothers 08 Mercedes CLK63 AMG stops accelerating at 185. That is set at the factory. Yes I had it there. Once. On an old military runway.

My bike stops at 187mph...I think...I've only got it to 175mph. Wish I could see the look on the face of the people doing the speed limit. I watched a show where this company in germany soups up ferraris and then test drives them on the autobahn to get an actual "top speed" He got 212mph with the camera man in the car. I almost pissed myself just watching on my 27" TV. Can't imagine going that fast in a car in real life.

i'm sure a lot of use on here have buried our spedos, I know I have.... at 85mph :D:woot:

I've driven a 4 liter pathfinder before, and it was fast, but not 140mph fast, but hey, what you saw is what you saw.

And best of luck with your wife, stress can do crazy things to the human body

thanks for the wishes..i'm going to get some1 to ride w/me w/ a video camera and show ya'll that needle buried at 140, then stop and get out show ya the truck, but my plates full rite now, it'll be abit

1973 RS camaro. No where near stock. 140 plus.

Front end floating like you woud not believe. Right up there as one of the dumbest things I ever did in my young years.

I had a Meyers Manx in high school. 2270cc motor. Lowered. Cut and raked windshield. Fuel tank in the back. Front end would lift at 85 mph and you could not steer it

Don't bother risking your life to show us how inaccurate your speedo is...

Here's a simpler way:

If the redline of your engine is 6000RPM, take the truck up to highway speed in top gear and then get the RPMs to 3000RPM (or 1/2 of whatever redline actually is).

Read the speedometer.

Your top speed (not accounting for massive wind drag) is going to be double whatever speed you are reading at 3000RPM.

"Double the RPM, Double the speed"....it's a simple mathematical truth, and you don't have to kill yourself to get the number. :waytogo:

Caveat:

If your speedometer is way off even at 3000RPM, your top speed will also be wrong.

That really doesent tell us a whole lot. I know you said it, but wind resistance plays a major roll in this.

I also agree that he does not need to go risk his life and the lives of others to prove a point.
