Stocked Sealed headlights to HIDS

Howdy y'all, I drive a 1985 k5 blazer with the stock sealed rectangle head lights , and they arent very bright, so i want to switch to some 6000k HID lights. The problem is, the stock bulb and the reflective rectangle its housed in is one piece. How do i go about replacing them? Can anyone whos done this explain please? Any links to stuff id need to buy would be much appreciated. Thanks for any help!

You need to buy another headlight that uses the H3 or H4 light bulbs instead of a unit that is a sealed beam.
That is the unit I believe you can use for the HID conversion.
 
Thanks for the help. Do you know if they sell H3 or H4 headlights (and high beams) in the same style as the stock one?
 
Years ago I bought HELLA replacement lights both the stacked and single types for my Blazers the bulbs are replaceable.
 
Be aware that HIDs are supposed to be in projector housings or at least something designed for the arc placement. Putting them in halogen housings doesn't give a correct beam pattern. You can get a lot of light and save some energy, but the light isn't necessarily where you want it - and it's pretty rude if you drive on the street.

Oh yeah, and anyone who uses the high color temps is a dork.

I actually like the old sealed beams because the glass never yellows or dulls and the housings don't fill with condensation. You can scrub the bugs off with no damage. With relays and heavy wiring you can also get a lot of light. With a 4 headlight system (and using relays) you can keep the low beams on when your high beams come on or other configurations of 4 lights simultaneously. So I'm sticking with sealed beams until they become expensive or hard to find.

**The HID's are QUALITY STUFF... The 6500k was just too bright for me. :dunno:

Imo, SilverStar's are plenty bright.
If I don't have enough light.... I have my Hella Rallye3000's... :D

well, I see you are from California also. Where 99% of the drivers are A**holes.
so. if you dont care about throwing HIDS in a halogen housing.. ( I did).. i know many people might say not to.. etc..

but its your truck you can do what you want!

do you have the Quad stacked headlights?
or just Two headlights, with Highs/lows in them?

if you have just two. you should look for the bulb style H4-3.

it has a magnet in the HID that pulls the beam up and acts as the high beam..

jus sayin. and xentec are GARBAGE!! I would buy them from DDM tuning.

Quality hids for sure.

edit: I run the "raptor v2 35watt" kit from DDM tuning. with 4500k bulbs..
