SK-15,
Here's the low down on car security...
The Club sucks (real thieves just hacksaw through the steering wheel). I've seen it, so don't doubt me.
Kill switches are good (you could even use two, one ignition, another fuel pump), BUT if a car won't start, kill switches are the first thing a thief will look for. And they know that they're usually under the dash or under the seat or in the center console, definitely within reach of the driver.
Alarms are not deterrents, just alarms. I good thief will most likely have alarm installation experience, so the alarm is just there to notify you that your vehicle is being tampered with.
Grant makes a removeable steering wheel system (around $100, plus $15 adaptor, plus cost of wheel). I had one in a Camaro, works great as it securely locks the top of the steering column when the wheel is removed. Thieves can always tow your vehicle, it happens.
LoJack is not invinsible, they come out to your house and install the system somewhere in your car. They don't even tell you where it is (usually inside the headliner, D'oh!). It consists of transmitter, antenna, and battery pack. When the vehicle is reported stolen it is activated via satelite and replies by imitting a radio wave that is picked up by stationary antennas and then forwarded to tracking devices that are installed in a handfull of police cars. This is usually offered as an option on new vehicles or used vehicles sold through a dealer. Runs around $600. Not invinsible, BUT it might be the best option on recovering a stolen vehicle, especially on an older vehicle as thieves assume that it usually only found on new cars.
The truth is NO car is 100% from thieves, but good luck!
It's not what you buy, it's what you build!
