Stolen..not yet..maybe

Hell just take the battery out. Get those Q-disconnects on the battery. Its a pain but it would work no problem. Builds muscle too.lol I would do anything to keep my Blazer. Nothing would be to extreme.

You could also instal a 'night switch' like on the big trucks. It disconnects the power to your whole truck. Just need to find a good hiding place for it.

Diesel huh??? well there is a wire that goes to heat up the glow plugs right, then there is a signal wire to the starter, then the alternator main wire needs to be connected to the hot side on the battery right. OK put in a series of relays and switches that disconnect these three wires and you are the only one who knows the proper way to start your truck. next use all red wire to hook everything up and wire loom everything where things arent wireloomed do your best to make sure that things look like spagetti. Put in a few extra switches, make then all double pull double throw or double pull single throw and wire everything so it looks like they all do something.

There are removable steering wheels out there as well. You could also wire up your horn to the ignition switch with a bypass switch in it. So if the truck is started without bypassing the horn wire, the horn will just stay on.I would at the very least talk to your local alarm shop, and your insurance about it. After all the insurance has a stake in it as well! Check over your policy while your at it. Ask them what's covered, and what's not. You might be suprised. Also, take pictures of the truck, especially any improvements you've made to it. That way your insurance can't say you don't have proof of improvements if it does get ripped off!

Exstreme yes, but.. My uncles dodge ram hood orniment got stolen all the time. You know the ram figure with the horns.. well he got tired of bying new ones so he drilled two tiny holes under the horns where it would be natural to grab it with your fingers, glued the tips of smal fishing hooks in each hole. The thief being in a hurry to get it will grab it around the horns to jank it off. Then run bleeding from the sceen...

Adapt that consept to your door handles. Just tell people borrowing your truck where to not grab the handle..

Add some voltage to the deal and your truck protects itself while your sleeping.

Dude, I found a club plus hehe, it will shock the person if it gets set off and they attempt to remove it, can't remember who makes it I will keep looking for the url.

If it aint a Chevy don't raise it up!

SK-15,
Here's the low down on car security...
The Club sucks (real thieves just hacksaw through the steering wheel). I've seen it, so don't doubt me.
Kill switches are good (you could even use two, one ignition, another fuel pump), BUT if a car won't start, kill switches are the first thing a thief will look for. And they know that they're usually under the dash or under the seat or in the center console, definitely within reach of the driver.
Alarms are not deterrents, just alarms. I good thief will most likely have alarm installation experience, so the alarm is just there to notify you that your vehicle is being tampered with.
Grant makes a removeable steering wheel system (around $100, plus $15 adaptor, plus cost of wheel). I had one in a Camaro, works great as it securely locks the top of the steering column when the wheel is removed. Thieves can always tow your vehicle, it happens.
LoJack is not invinsible, they come out to your house and install the system somewhere in your car. They don't even tell you where it is (usually inside the headliner, D'oh!). It consists of transmitter, antenna, and battery pack. When the vehicle is reported stolen it is activated via satelite and replies by imitting a radio wave that is picked up by stationary antennas and then forwarded to tracking devices that are installed in a handfull of police cars. This is usually offered as an option on new vehicles or used vehicles sold through a dealer. Runs around $600. Not invinsible, BUT it might be the best option on recovering a stolen vehicle, especially on an older vehicle as thieves assume that it usually only found on new cars.
The truth is NO car is 100% from thieves, but good luck!

It's not what you buy, it's what you build!

Do you live in a house or what? The next time you see them hanging around your vehicle, even if it is in an apartment complex, I would call the police and say that they are acting very suspicious around your vehicle, they have no reason to be snooping around your vehicle, and touching it as well. There has to be something that they (police) can do, other than waiting for them to steal it. Heck they stop people that are hanging around on corners and such, and all they have to say is that they were acting suspicious, or they had a report of them acting suspicious. The "Club" is just a deterent (?), it is only there too make them look for an easier theft (I have one on my Cutlass, as it is one of the most popular vehicles to steal, as well as the Monte Carlos), if they want it bad enough, they will get it (like the guy with the burglar alarm). I would do as the others have said, look for something that will keep it from starting. A toggle switch to make an open (no continuity), or push button for the starter or something. You could even have one under the hood and one on the inside of the cab. I have an electric fuel pump on my Nova with a toggle switch, so it would start and run our of gas (maximum) at about half a block. Heck, Sears has that new battery (@$150 ??)with a remote that will kill the power to the vehicle, it is just a deterent, but they would probably have to give it a jump. But then again, you probably have two batteries. - Steve

I like this idea of a night switch. Since I found out that if I don't turn my stereo off I don't have much battery left it would be a good thing to have to make sure I have 2 good batteries in the cold morning. The Club is out of the question..too easy. Starter kill switch..sounds good, but with my luck I will kill myself installing it. I am going to look into a car alarm system, but if they really want it they will take it one way or the other. Thanks. if anyone still has other ideas please post..there might be others out there with similar problems!!

I put a toggle switch on my starter too. Its hidden pretty decent, but I'm going to figure a way to hide it in my Tuffy Console, so they can't get to it unless they open the console, which would be really hard with no key. Its not hard at all. Find the wire that goes to your starter and cut it. Then splice in to the switch and hide the switch whereever.
I do like the fuel pump idea too, b/c they can start it, but won't get too far, so after they drive it a little bit and it just boggs down and die, they'll think your K5 is a piece and just leave it and run. Yes, it is obvious that if some one really wants it, they'll get it, but it doesn't hurt to slow em down. put in as much theft deterent as you can.

Like I said, the Club is just a deterent. If you add this in combination with the other stuff, you might have a fighting chance. 1st they would have to get the club off, then they would have to try to start it, etc. I went with a friend down to the Valley here in Texas, (near the Mexico border) to stay with his mom for Thanksgiving a few years back (many, many moons ago). Anyway, we borrowed her car to go out, as it was a lot nicer than what we drove down there, and 1 thing that I did like about her car was the theft deterent that she had put on. Basically it was a fuse (the little plastic flat ones that are used on mid 80's vehicles on up ) and there was a holder that you had to install the fuse to start the car. When I was in the car I did not even notice it, however when my friend showed me and explained to me what it was for ( you know, a little light went off ). Around there they like to steal cars all around the border towns (even a couple of hundred miles out) and then cross the border with them. I though it was a great idea. She had it installed at some shop (probably like some shop that installs car alarms), and it was on the steering column about half way down. Just some food for thought. - Steve

Man do I have the thing for you! It is the grant steering wheel security system. It attaches to your steering column and to your grant steering wheel. When you leave your ride, you take your wheel with you and put a locking cap on the column. They can't take your ride if it has no steering wheel unless they take it on a flatbed. If thats the case then they are gonna take it anyway. My friend has one on his fully restored 69 chevelle. He lived about five miles away from mexico and all he got was fingerprints on his windows. His ride is canary yellow and is show car quality. When I heard that I went and bought one for my k5.I bought it at pepboys and it cost about 100 dollars.

If someone wants it....I mean really wants it, It's gone!!!! [-b] everything that you can do to stop someone, someone can repair an steal your vehical. Make sure that you don't do anything that is going to get you into trouble as your tring to protect your property. The best thing is to keep a inventory and pic's of your rig and carry full coverage insurrance. Talk to the insurance company and let them know what you have and that you want to insure it for what you have into it. Tires, stereo, lights, new motor, carb. anything and everything. Keep records of your maintainance records showing that your vehical is maintained andt that it's in great shape. Other deterance are used to keep the kids from braking in. Keep the truck well lite and that you can see it. Call the cops the next time your see someone looking and playin around you vehical and tell them that there tring to brake in the police can get there information and have it on record if it is stolen they have a lead.

Here is something that I can add to tis thing...I parked my K5 further away from the "action". I walked out, it was daylight, and guess what...they now like my S10...not to steal...but to PLAY on. I found kids on my roof, int the bed, on the hood and anywhere else you can imagine. I think this is a more parental problem...
I really wasn't very nice to the kiddies, yelled at em pretty loud....but geesh!!?!? Is this happening everywhere? Have parents lost all care for their children until its too late?

That really sucks. I would yell at them too. They always skate in my driveway at home and sometimes when they get too close to my K5 I push the panic button to make the alarm go off. I hate it when people get too close to it and mess with it. BTW has anyone noticed when you try to park far away from everyone else one person has to park right next to you and they have some POS and you know their doors bounced off yours?

I really wouldn't care if their dor bounces off mine...it would damage their car/truck/tin can more than mine would be. Them there kiddies must have had the sh*t scared out of em good...I ain't seen em since...now if I can just get their parents to stop looking at my K5 I will be in good shape....BTW anyone know the law well enough to tell me if I catch them f*ckers on my K5 again and if I go outside with my shotgun how much trouble I can get into? I understand there are a couple of cops among us on this sight. You could put up a new post asking about the gun thing. As for the night switch, You could disguise it as a dual gas tank switch. Goodluck!
