Looking to change out my 10 bolt U-joints and I wondering which ones are the strongest to get. CTM? OX? or Spicer?. Also CTM only shows u-joints for Dana 44's. Are Dana 44 U-joints the same as 10 bolts?.

Yes, the u-joints are the same between a 10 bolt and a 44. CTM's are the strongest, but you have to realize that they are $225 a piece and are much stronger than everything else in that axle. You also can't use them with stock shafts because they require full circle clips. Finally, CTM's wear out really fast because they use a bushing instead of roller bearings so unless its a trail only rig you probably shouldn't use CTM's.

Spicers are good joints. That's what I would go with if I were you :thumb:

solid non greasable spicers.... dont waste money on ctms for half ton stuff
gabe

btw I ran 42s with a ten bolt and spicers lasted longer than any other joint I ran... I did go through shafts and joints pretty quick though

isn't it possible to modify the stock shafts for full circle clips. that would be the strongest setup.

You can machine stock shafts to accept full circle clips (all of the u-joints, even Spicers, can take full circle clips).

I don't see how that would be the strongest setup though, all of the aftermarket joints (CTM, yukon, ox, longfield, etc.) are way stronger than Spicer joints :dunno:

yes ctms and all superjoints are stronger than the spicers... but why spend the money building a 10 bolt that way? even if you only run stock stuff on a 60 it will be stronger than full chromoly shafts, and ctms on a 10 bolt and it would wind up less expensive... I bent the ears on the stock shafts, it wasnt the ujoint that was breaking most of the time... I would litterly tear the ears off of the shafts.

strongest with stock shafts and joints. it would help keep the u-joint caps in place.
