Ok guys, this one is a bit difficult to explain. When coming to a stop, the truck feels like something under me is sliding back after Im stopped. The truck stops and then something else settles. Maybe loose bolts on engine mounts, Tranny, or TC or something (not quite sure how to check these)?

Ive checked all body mounts and they are solid.

Could weak ball joints do this?

Where should I start

Thanks a bunch!

Sloppy spring eye bushings?

Sheared spring center pins?

Look for any "shiny" spots on otherwise cruddy or rusty parts underneath. That will give you hints about what might be shifting out of position during braking.

Thanks guys!

I didn't find and fresh metal, but I did find some scary loose bolts. The two underneath the transfer case were like 10 full rotations loose. I also got 2 or so turns out of the rear u joints. I did a quick test drive and couldn't get it to do the post stop shuffle, so maybe it's nailed. I'll drive it tomorrow and know for sure.

Thank you!

Hmm same issue after tightening everything down.

I checked calipers and pads and everything looks good.

Could a bad drum piston cause something like this?

Any other ideas?

this is a long shot, but check your bumper brackets. I had something popping and moving around under certain steering conditions and I assumed it was loose steering/axle stuff. turns out it was just my front bumper moving against part of the bracket that I couldn't get a bolt into.

I came here to say that - sticking brake pads (rear) sometimes cause this issue. Just pop the drum off and see what you can see. If you have to struggle to get the drum off that may indicate problems. You can get a brake hardware kit for cheap to fix that.

Sometimes the little "wheel" auto-adjuster on the brake pad ... connecting/pushing arm (?) gets screwed up and makes your brakes drag, if so replace it.

If there is any fluid on the back of your rear tires then your brake cylinders are shot for sure. Brake fluid causes stuck pads. Replace them both at the same time, along with the pads and brake hardware.

The issue is getting worse now.

Wondering if it is a brake issue or driveline issue, I tried braking while in neutral. It does not happen in neutral, only while in gear.

I looked at videos of a dry slip yoke, and this is exactly what mine feels like (minus the clunk sound), but I have a fixed yoke... ?

What else could cause this only while in gear?

I suppose it could be a bad slip yoke on the driveshaft. I'd take the driveshaft off of one end and see if it has play in the slip. If it does let me know by tomorrow as I have my stock rear that I need to either get rid of or scrap by Wednesday at the latest (moving). Let me know man. Hopefully you can figure it out.:waytogo:

Hey dude,
Very cool. Question though, I dont think I have a slip yoke... Its fixed i think. Ill upload a pic in a sec.

I think i know what it is but i dont know how to explain it. I think its the rear breaks causing the springs to wrap backwards and then once you come to a stop, the torque from the engine wraps them back forward....

Does this help?

Regarding rear brakes, it only happens while in gear. When in neutral, everything is great.

Hmm no vibrations. There was a small metal "retainer" clip that was bent to crap that went over those splines.

Can you please explain the angle issue?

Dang, how much do you want for your stock driveline Sean?

Thanks a bunch guys

Assuming finding a box that it'll fit in is easy, I'll take $40 shipped if that's cool. I'd throw some new joints in, but otherwise it's in really nice shape.

This might sound stupid but take the rear shocks off and see if they work good.
My Duramax acted like what you are describing and I found the shocks on my truck were shot.

I might be totally wrong but its cheap to try.:dunno:
