Stripped d60 spring plate bolt

My spring plate bolt on my d60 is stripped, pretty bad too. Whats the best way to fix this? I tried putting a stud in and welding it, but the weld wasnt holding on the cast at all. Any suggestions?

If you had not welded on it, you could have Heli-cored it. Might still could.

I have seen people run a second u-bolt on that side. Cut a notch in the pumpkin's bottom rib for a u-bolt to ride in. You also have to make a new spring plate if you go that route. I don't think that is the best route to go though.

the weld didnt mess it up, so maybe ill try using a heli-cored
