I'm having a hard time removing a the lower kingpin bearing cap on a D60 knuckle. I've done this before, but servicing a friends front D60 that it looks like it has never been apart.
Any suggestions? I've tried to heat the part, gently pry it (which has always worked on other axles), hammer it, chisel it apart (but it's only damaging the surfaces, so I stopped), and liberal use of penetrating oils.

Also of note, one upper kingpin has no hex recess machined into it. It's just a solid kingpin - no getting a hex key/socket into it. Any suggestions on removing that?

Mine was also stuck. I let it soak and hit it with a chisel that was flat on one side and slanted on the other. Wedged it in there and smacked it.

for the solid kingpin, cut a groove with a cutoff wheel where the top of the c meets the kingpin, it should be hand tight after that. Or, you can just cut the entire top off and then unskrew it when it cools down.

I was thinking this also, soI've been trying this method. So far it's not budging. I'll keep on it though.

Good idea on the kingpin. I'll try that method. Thanks guys.
