83 K5, 700 r4 It stated normally today and shifter would move out of "park", the key wouldn't move to turn off engine. I got it turned off by closing the choke. Later everything just freed up on its on own and it all seems good. What should I be thinking about this?

I'd be thinking you're gonna have to go through the mechanical bits of your column...

How worn is the key itself?

The key is not too bad. Yeah, I think you are right, I gotta look at what's going on in the column. The ignition switch was replaced only 268,000 miles ago.

well that's good. Less to deal with. Most likely the rod going to the ignition switch is bent or hung up.
