Stuck piston ring

Shop did oil changes on my Duramax before I took ownership of it. Damn drain plug was stripped!
I had the weld a nut to it to get it off. I was pissed!
I always do my one oil changes never had a problem till someone else touches it.

Still do all my own oil changes, except the one under warranty that goes to the dealer, first oil change they did the didn't put the skid pan back on properly they had to buy a new one, I jacked it up at home and replaced the bolts they didn't put in, they ordered all new bolts, clips, and skidpan, that got a Newby tech's button chewed.

Been thinking about trying a 3 jaw wrench that a ratchet fits into.

Our 02 Durango has the fully belly skid plate, and the best way to do the filter is to drop the front of the skid for better access to the filter. My wife tried a couple of the "quick lube" places and every one they basically dumped the whole old filter contents onto the skid plate so it'd drip for weeks. The only place that ever got it right the first time, and was a very reasonable price was...the local Dodge dealership. I can honestly say the best experiences for oil and filter have been at the dealerships here. No hard upsell, no bullshit, and priced reasonably IMO. Our local GM dealership was super good too...

Had a mechanic in our fleet, Mr Roosevelt Johnson, I can put 3 broken metal band type filter wrenches on his account.
Was the running comment when a over tight filter was found who Rosie'd the filter.
My old neighbor almost every time he did a filter be it his I/O boat or 4wd S10 blazer, would be down asking me to give it try. I think he may have gotten lefty loosey and righty tighty mixed up.
Once on S10 I had rip the can of the base, and drive the base off with a drift and bfh. What a mess.

They make strap wrenches with motorcycle chain too. Sometimes they work better than regular strap wrenches, sometimes not. Sometimes you have to use a screwdriver, messy though. You gotta admit the nut on the bottom of the K&N filters is nice.
