So today me and some buddies decided to take advantage of the huge snow fall we got in CO. We drove up to Coal Bank Pass (10,600 ft) to build some jumps for snowboarding. Went back to the blazer to leave and it wouldnt start. I didnt feel like screwing with it because in the 30 minutes that we stood around trying to get it started it had snowed 3 inches and kept coming.

I have the POS edelbrock performer carb and it is jetted for Denvers elevation. Not sure why it wouldnt start, but I am going to go back tomorrow if it is not still snowing. It just cranked and cranked. I really think this engine has a foot out the door too.

If I cant get it started I plan on putting a rag in the gas tank and burning the bastard to the ground. :mad: This is the second winter in a row I have been screwed by this truck. Only this time it was cold and dark and we had to hitchhike.
 
Would have if it wasnt like 25 degress and snowing so hard. But hopefully tomorrow it will be warmer and not snowing so much. There was like 3.5 ft of snow all around and it is supposed to be about 6 ft by tomorrow!

Edit: Just reread this and I came off sounding like a dick but was not my intention so sorry about that 4x4high.

Well I dont think I will be giving it away, the nI couldnt collect insurance :)
 
This happened to me last winter. Snowed a ton and I went to pull my buddy out of the muddy river bed. The motor gave out in the river bed, so I had to leave it there for a few days, then call an offroad towing service to get towed out. Someone broke in and stole my radio while it sat out in the middle of the woods, but oh well.

Needless to say, that was an expensive winter. And that's why I'm stuck with a crappy carb'd motor now :(
 
Yea I cant wait to go FI. Hopefully that will be soon. I think I will also rewire the engine bay because a lot of it was poorly done by the PO with lots off crappy splices and small gauged wiring.

If its snow that much, find a way to mark it if its going ot sit there, so someone doesn't hit it with a plow :eek1:

Dang the alpine loop won't open to July if it is snowing that much now. Red Mountain will be white in June. Durango dang dude I will have to visit you if I make it out there next year.

Me an R.J. and the kids going on a camping trip. :D

Well it wasnt under any snow when I went there this morning so I am lucky it didnt get tagged by a plow. But they did plow a nice 3 ft drift behind it, which turned into fun once I got it started. :D

so the leaky fuel filter was the problem?
 
Well I ran it back to town with the fuel filter leaking, but I dont think that is the actual problem. I am going to check my coolant mix and make sure it is mixed right and also do an oil change as that is over due. I think I might have just flooded it wayyyy too much and then it being so could didnt help either, who knows. I am now in search of a TBI 350 though. Especially when I will be driving those altitudes frequently.
 
Were you pumping the throttle? With the higher altitude if you pumped the throttle you would have flooded it. I know when i take a carburated car to the local mountains here and I live at sea level I have to hold the throttle WOT to get more air in the motor to have the proper air-fuel ratio to start up. But when I hold it WOT at start up I have no problems. but I'm sure this isn't anything you didn't know
 
Yea I only pump it a few times then hold it WOT. Its just time to do FI, so that is the next thing I will do as soon as I have the cash.

Wait till June when I kill myself and go over the edge on Black bear road! :yikes: You can buy my wrecked rig and use the 305 TBI. I will be dead before it hits the last roll. :crazy:
 
Well just come in July and hopefully ill have FI by then and we can just wheel safely over Black Bear! I dont think anyone needs to die for me to get FI haha
