the darn copper tube for the sending unit is leaking again.
The stupid tube wouldnt come out had to use a easy out to get it loose,
and had to yank the distributor out.:mad1::mad1::mad1:

i need a vacation.:dunno:

Did you use a compression type fitting?...I find flaring on 1/8" copper doesn't really work out often ,it makes the tubing too thin and it'll crack from vibration in no time..I hated nylon tubing on oil pressure gauges after having it come off or rub thru on something or melt, and leak...

You can also buy an adapter fitting that has 1/8" NPT threads on one end and the other end will accept a 3/16" brake tubing line--the steel might hold up better for you, just wind a few spring coils into it to allow for some flexing...
I prefer copper because things rust too darn fast here..

ya the sending unit was against the body so when the motor rocked it hit the sensor and cracked the tube,if it breaks again ill block it and go for the one above the filter

sometimes i wonder if i kicked a puppy in a past life........

Yeah,me too...like Jesus's puppy!.....if it weren't for bad luck,I'd have no luck at all 98% of the time...

The OEM oil sending unit screwed into a 45 degree adapter ,to avoid it contacting the firewall..if you put the tubing right into the bock it will be closer to the firewall and more likely to get damaged..my old 72 K5 had a factory oil pressure gauge,it had a steel 1/8" tube with coils wound into it and it also had a union you could dissconnect the dash gauge tube from about 12" away from where it went into the block..

Some small blocks had a 1/8 NPT port with a pipe plug in the front of the block above the water pump, you can tap a gauge into that too...

well it still is leaking where the tube bends, i hate this thing!

Full suck!

Yeah I've chased oil leaks around my motor a few times...
I still would rather have the sender behind/ under the distributed than by the oil filter...
My truck is a 1988 with fuel injection... Had the sender on top of oil filter for the gauge, and also had the sender on top for the fuel injection...
Worst of both world!!
Replaced the lower sender 3 times in 2 years- what a mess and what a pain in the ass! Too much heat down there (even with the factory heat shield over the sender) and I guess they don't make senders like they used to?

I also broke off the brass elbow on the sender above... Suck suck suck sucking!
Finally got everything located to the top, leak free, and hope I don't have to do it again. Believe it or not it was easier to work up top than by the filter. Couldn't get tools in place, and think I had to plasma the last one off so I could remove the elbow it was on. Never again!!

well this morning ill fix it early, the wind is going to blow again so here comes some more dust.

Crap,Crap,Crap!!I hate having to change parts that dont fit and haveing to go back to the part store for the 5th time!!Crap, crap crap.

Nothing worse than having your only daily driver all apart, and finding you need to make a parts run...I miss having 2 vehicles on the road...:(

Hope your day improves and you get that oil line fixed...they can be a real PITA..one day I had the nylon tubing I used on one truck develop a pinhole near the valve cover, and a barely noticeable stream of oil pissing out of it landed right on the hot exhaust manifold..
I smelled oil burning so I pulled over, and smoke belched out from under the hood--the minute I opened the hood to see wtf was wrong, the smoke & oil erupted into a nice fireball that lasted just long enough to toast all 4 spark plug wires on the drivers side..
Luckily I was able to melt the nylon tubing shut with a bic lighter and limp home on 4 cylinders, sputtering and backfiring the whole 5 miles home from the dump run I'd just done.....

ya i got no ride to go to the part store so i have to wait till someone gets home before i can go.

well after 5 trips to get parts that works i fixed the stupid oil leak.
Then had my mom in the Blazer in a taco bell drive threw and it floods out and stalls.
I had the mechanic adj the carb and he set the floats to high.:dunno::doah:
