hey all, theres a show goin on nearby where i live over at MIR dragway, drag racing, stereo competition, bikini contest, yadda yadda, but theres also a burnout competition. i was plannin on goin with a friend of mine, and im a bit upset cuz the IROC isnt running right now, but i thought about the truck. im not gonna race it, but im thinkin, with a set of junkyard tires on it, in 4 wheel low with the front hubs in freewheel, the truck could probly do some nasty burnouts.

question is, would that be a really stupid idea? is it a pretty safe bet i would break the transfer case? or would i be pretty safe being silly and stupid????

Low range will really limit max tire speed. They usually have water on the burnout area to help get the burnouts started. To really make some serious smoke, you want those tires spinning like mad! :yikes:

I did some pretty extended burnout sessions with a stock K30 once. Was probably dumb, but it was fun and nothing bad happened. It did have a 400/400/203/14bff though...
Don't know how carried away I'd get with a 10/12 bolt, but one might last a while.

keep it in 2wd. wheel speed is what produces the smoke. like was said earlier, the burnout box is designed to break traction. Go have fun.

When I finally get new tires the old ones will be offered to the smoke gods.

make sure to have someone video tape you, then post it here.

hmmmm..... mkay, i had done lots of burnouts in the camaro, but the truck was new. i havent really thought of the truck as really havin the power to do a regular 2wd burnout, but i had it in low the other day, and spun the tires pretty much without tryin (forgot to lock the front hubs). but if yall think the 2wd is better, then 2wd it is, time to hit up the junkyards for some sacrificial rubber :)
