i know this belongs in the "Audio" forum but no $$ yet to get the membership, i have four 10 inch subs, and I would like to find a box that holds all 4, any ideas where to get one or anyone on here make them? I'm an audio installation specialist, not a fabricator.

Thanks guys.

You are an audio installation specialist, and can't build a sub box? Sorry, but a good sub box is something that can be built with minimal woodworking skills.

Not many places stock/make boxes to hold 4 10's. I'd look into a local audio shop to build one, or run 2 dual 10 boxes.

Did I say anywhere in that post that I can't build one? no, i didn't think so, look if your looking to target someone to appear to be a fool/dumbass your picking the wrong guy with me.

I don't have ANY of the tools to be required to build one, nor the access to them, so, with that said.

Um dude, wrong foot alright? If your an audio specialist, its assumed that you have the skills to do anything auto-audio, it comes with the title. One would assume you have friends in the biz and access to shops or tools to that, so saying your a professional and then no tools and access limits your opening credibility on the subject.

And 4 10s is not an everyday application, as stated above, 2-10 boxes or have someone custom make you one. Id rather go custom, then again 4-10s you are just going to the thump and not so much sound quality in my opinion so im not sure if it matters for what you are seeking.

Just a quick google search comes up with a couple of built boxes available from private sellers, but nothing on the commercial side of things. The market really isn't there for companies to build boxes like that.

I have 2 12's that used to be in my k10 (now they're in my crew cab) and I'm not sure if 4 10's is going to be worth the hassle. IMO for these small standard cabs a single good quality 12 or two 10's is all you'll ever want.
Then again I'm assuming this is in a truck because you never even told us what it's going in.

If it's going in a blazer you could do something like this. Leper built this one...

Good luck getting help, might want to lighten up a bit. :)

This is what's throwing us off. How would an audio installer not have access to any of these tools? How do you do your job? No one is trying to be a dick but that doesn't make a lot of sense. Are you strictly on the wiring side or something?

Moving on...a buddy and I built a box for his K5 that held 4 12" subs and two amps. We used a bunch of 5/8 no-void marine plywood (free scraps from a local boat builder) and sprayed it with rubber undercoating. It sounded awesome but it was ridiculously heavy...took 3 people to load/unload it.

No pics and it's a slow day at work so I modeled it (roughly) in Google SketchUp. It was designed to fit between the rear wheel wells and the tailgate. There was also a hinged top covering the amp rack. Originally we had fans in the vent holes but at highway speeds with the top off the airflow was messing them up so we just put fan grilles over the holes and left them open. We wanted something that could still hit hard on the highway with the top off and this beast did the trick.

sealed or ported?

If sealed it should be easy to build the only advice I can give is fiberglass will save you a bunch of time and headaches.

what brand of sub? power reqs

didn't mean to snap up on you all like that, kids been driving me crazy, and my life continues it's downward spiral, to answer some questions before I run to get my other truck to get it ready to sell, I am planning on this for my 1979 GMC Jimmy.

The reason I do not have the tools to do it myself is because I had a "Friend" living with me, money was disappearing, he was eating my wife and I out of house and home, so one day I told him to leave, and while I was at dinner with my wife he broke into my garage and cleaned it out of all my tools and such, all $7000+ worth, most were gifts so proving it would be hard, and to boot the local PD said there was NOTHING they could do, The courts said without witness testimony or visual proof he did it, other than my claims that my saw table was in his truck, I'd have no case, I have gone through all the hoops to get some sort of case on him around it with ZERO luck.

again I'm sorry for snapping, there's a lot going on here, and that's no excuse to take it our on you guys, and I'm not going to start drama, so I'll be more mindful of what my responses are and how they may be perceived in the future.

That's cool man, it's not the first time someone has been a little wound up on here because of unrelated issues going on at home. :)

Sorry to hear it, man. A friend of mine (actually the guy I built that sub box with) just had a similar situation two weeks ago. Let a "friend of a friend" stay in the spare room in his shop while the guy did a few engine swaps and car parting. Come to find out after the guy moved out that not only did he take about 5 grand in tools that were not his with him but the cars he was parting in my buddy's shop were all stolen. :eek1:

As with the crowd, no issue man, everyone has a bad day. If someone stole my tools like that their possessions would burn to the ground mysteriously. Heck, i nearly snapped someones neck when they put window chalk on the camaro :haha:

I'm glad everyone is so understanding here, and as for the subs, I tested them, and no wonder why my friend gave them to me, BLOWN, well realizing one of my other friends owed me $$ and saw he had some Jensen 12s I went over, and he gave them to me, he only owed me $40 but it's not a bad deal, I realize he lost on the deal, so tomorrow I'm giving him my old Sony deck since his died out last month.

it's a good alternative till I can afford the Memphis subs I've been eyeballing.

the one leper did is EXACTLY what I wanted, but these sound pretty good, I can't wait until I get a larger amp, I only have a 420W, if you have one sitting around, please, feel free to get a hold of me.

but if you all will excuse me, I made a sale on eBay today and sent the item out, so it's MEMBERSHIP TIME!!!

thanks guys.

Leper, if you read this, I may be interested in PAYING you to make me a box like that.

Here are the internal pics of the box. I built that box with a $20 saber saw and a Harbor Freight dremel knockoff, in my driveway. Patience is the only thing you need to do a copy. That was done for my daughters truck, and I would only build something like that for her. Besides, it weighed over a hundred pounds when it was finished, kind of a shipping killer.

your gifted, do you realize that?
I had NO idea it was THAT involved, I may just stick to my bandpass for a bit longer, till I have the time to do something like that.

Truely dude, sounds like you need to just go get a decent prefab box. A prefab sealed will sound 10x better than a $hitty custom one. And with 2 12's, you don't really need the bandpass. They will be plenty loud in a sealed, and sound better across the low end. I've got 1 12 in a burb, in a sealed box, and it sounds good. 2 would be ideal.

2 12's in a bandpass will be loud, but rarely sound decent.

Hell I lent him $40 and he gave me them in the box, I am loking at a sealed box and a twin set of Volfenhags, I agree with bandpass and 12s not being a gd setup, 10s in a bandpass sound great, but not 12's, these are only getting MAYBE 80W a piece, and they sound decent, but i'm not too sure off hand if I'll keep em or not.

I really like the Memphis center ported boxes and I may see if they sell a sealed version of the same style.
