sub frame cab support.

Hi, everyone. I am in the process of restoring a 1979 blazer, 4x4. I was looking thru the LMC catalog for floor repair parts and noticed a "sub frame cab support' part number with description
Part No. 38-7976

SUBFRAME-CAB SUPPORT-LEFT HAND BLZ JIM 73-91
Where does this go??. I didn't notice any support when I took the rockers off and started the repair of the floor panels.
This is just a little confusing and I thought that I would contact the experts.

That is welded to the floor,about a foot in from the rocker panel,it is a brace to stiffen up the cab floor..pretty sure a K5 has them,I can't remember,I know pickups do..someone may have removed what was left of yours maybe in the past ?..

Thanks, I thought the same thing just wanted to get another opinion before I welded it in place. But I suppose the only thing it would do is stiffen things up more. I had to fab the cab floor brace from the firewall to the start of the blazer bed.

If I remember right that brace has the weld nut for the inner fender skirt and also the cab mount butts against it and it welded to it..

I had to reinforce that brace on my pickup,I used a piece of that galvanized slotted angle iron they sell at home centers,it fit good and I just drilled some holes in the brace where it was still solid and bolted it to it..I cut a "V" out of it and bent it till it matched the angle the original brace had where it goes up towards the firewall,and welded the "V" shut first...

Thank you gentlemen Jimmy. That makes sense now that I see it in place. I have the part and never considered that it went in that location. Mainly because I didn't have any reference when I tore the blazer apart.
