Is this possible? Would like to improve audio experience and add a little sub action, dont need anything crazy. Saw lmc sells a shallow 8” sub, not sure how that eould be under a front seat. Guessing smp would be under 1 seat and sub under the other?

Dont want to compromise “trunk” space, so a box in the back is out.

What have you done?

Which seats do you have? I have the later K5 fold and slide style and there is a cable between the seat rails that almost cuts the usable space down there in half. What I like about the under seat idea is you can probably still hear and feel it while rumbling down the road. Do you have side panels? You might get a low profile sub in some of the side space.

Ive got the fold and slide later seats. I dont need anything super powerful, just some bass would be nice. Without it, music is difficult with the roof off. Doesnt help that my dash speakers are shot, but i have speakers just behind the front seat so that helps offset.

Ill have to look at dimensions, but thought a shallow 8” may work and amp under passenger seat so conceal it. Would run wires under carpet when i replace it

Cool. What are the measurements of the space under the seat?

Careful where you mount the amp since it needs good airflow. If it gets too hot the thermal protection circuitry may kick in and shut the amp off until it cools down. If you do mount it under the seat maybe add a small computer fan to help dissipate the heat.

Ill have to measure the workable space later this weekend and see what options are. Another option could just be better 3 way speakers in the panels if the sub isnt viable.

Just looking, seems there are specific subs with built in amps meant to go under seats.

For example:

New amps are so small and class D are way cooler than the old days, you can really fit them into places that weren't acceptable all that long ago.

This is a little guy, would be plenty for a lightweight 8"

And just for fun, one the size of maybe a little bigger than a softback book.
