Suburban 1/2 vs 3/4 tow rig

Finally might have found something but wanted to get thoughts on price and condition. He 12.5k but is considering 7.5k. Looks pretty clean overall. Waiting on some underside pictures.

1987 V20 Suburban (3/4 ton fuel injected) 350 TBI V8 with 78,800 miles
SM465 4 speed manual transmission
NP208 transfer case
10 bolt 8 lug front axle, warn manual hubs
14 bold SF 8 lug rear axle
Stock suspension 33” Yokohama tires
new carpet w/ killmat + fabric sound heat dampening, new fuel pump/sending unit, new power steering pump, AC converted to modern and works well, new door and window seals on front and passenger doors, front leaf springs are new OEMs, new shocks and steering stabilizer.
Was used by a school in Burlington, CO, then sold to a owner before current owner

from seller:
AC is front only but blows cold, no leaks. Minor rust in a few places. It’s probably due for new seals on the axles, no idea when they were last done. And probably due for a transmission service.

I wouldn't go over 7K on that, the internet has people thinking all these trucks are worth mint

Ok, is even 7k high? Looks like transmission needs some love - There is a new noise that I suspect is the snap ring on 3rd gear in the SM465. Replaced the drive shaft u joints but still makes the noise. Happens only when I hit 45+ in 3rd.

IMO yes that’s high, but I’m a cheap bastard, it’s going to boil down to how much you want it….I mean 4 speed burbans are cool and it’s from Texas so I’m going to assume it’s not a total rust bucket. Buying and selling always comes down to two things, how much someone is willing to let something go for and how much someone is willing to pay for said thing.

Price being high or low is irrelevant at this step. Many of us will tell you it is too high, many more will tell you it is cheap.

What is important, you found something you like, it has a good documented (unfiltered) history on this forum on what improvements and work the seller has done with it. You have been looking at similar ads for similar trucks without that history as well. Now you are at the point where it is a question of can you and the seller agree on the price. If you want to get it below the $7.5K price the seller is already considering, you need more than just feelings to convince the seller his truck is worth less. Find comparable trucks for less and be ready to walk away if you don't feel happy with the price.
