I searched for one on here, but couldn't find any. I know people graft Blazer roofs on the rear of Suburbans, has anyone grafted the top on, and installed a Chalet camper shell instead?

Haven't seen it done yet. I wanted to, had the extra Chalet shell, then ran out of marriage, money, and motivation :(

Did do some nice photochops though :haha:

I thought it was a funny coincidence that I posted this, then my brother calls me and tells me about those two Craigslist links three hours later. My brother said he got an email, from the Blazer Chalet site guy. He is on here, I just can't think of his name. I emailed the guy in that link and asked for better quality pictures.

The internet is unstoppable. The Chalet site owner isn't me, but I did email the two Fargo links to a guy named Andy in Minnesota (?) who is thinking of constructing a 'burb Chalet.... but I was alerted to one of the links from a guy at conversiontrucks.net, and stumbled across the second link on my own. Thought I'd save Andy some effort. Another Delaware guy in our Yahoo Chalet owners' forum is in the process of making a 'burb Chalet, haven't heard how far he's gotten lately.

This is the first completed one I've ever seen. I seriously doubt that Chinook and / or GM made a factory version, but stranger things have been known to happen.... Fargo pics below, in case the Craigslist links expire or get deleted. I called & emailed the seller, no reply yet.

Yeah, I hardly doubt it's factory. I still think it's cool. I have wanted to graft a K5 top onto the back of my Suburban for a long time now, and I think think a Suburban Chalet would be pretty cool.

Thinking about the axle location in regards to the rear over hang on a burb vs. blazer, the burb challet would be horrible ass heavy.

guys look how it sits on the burb, in relation to the k5. altho the burb has more overhang behind the wheels the black square area on the camper is in the same location in relation to the tail light as it is on the k5. the front of the side window is in the same position in relation to the trucks glass, same on the k5. how can that be, when the burb has more rear over hang?

The space between the front edge of wheel well and door is shorter on the burb. This is made up for on the added space in the rear for the burb.

Or in other words the distance is the same as a blazer on the top edge of bed rail.

I realize that, but i meant that the axles is in a different spot in relation to the camper. Farther forward on the burb.

OK I know this is a photochop but you can see it better here.

In A the position is changed because of the different in distances of B. The lack of distance in B makes up for the longer distance in C.

Here you have the real thing

Well, the wife did want a new camper. I wonder if she'd let me get this?

Fargo is a bit of a hike from here, but it'd make a good road trip!:D

my wife was wanting one too when I brought the Chalet home and I still ended up buying a new 25' tt about 2 months later. Maybe I should have asked first.:D

Thought of something else; what if you do this and replace the rear susp/axle with a dually setup? Wouldnt that help with sag and sway?

Throw in a 454/465/205 and you've got a recipe for fun! I'm getting wood just thinking about the possibilities!:D:D:D
