did one ton suburbans have d60 for front end or d44? cause i ran across one for sale with a 454 that still runs.

There were no 1 Ton Subs. 3/4 ton's had D44's or 10 bolts /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

yepp 1 ton subs dont exist in stock form, there were only 1/2 and 3/4 tons and the and both had 10Bs or D44s under them, some 3/4s were 8-lug though but still a 10 bolt.

woah, its a suburban with 1 tons, not a 1 ton suburban, i had someone more knowledgable look at it then my friend.

Not positive, but I don't know of any old Subs that came with a 454.(Not '69-'91) BUT THAT MAY NOT BE TRUE; I would check the VIN on the block, and crawl under the front and take a look at the axle. /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

How about some more info on the burb so we can help more. I also agree that there was no option for a 454 in a 4wd burb. If it's a D60 front than it was swapped in, also make sure it is in fact a D60, a d44 and 60 look somewhat the same without standing in front of them.

im about 500 miles away from it, and from what i been told recently that the motor was transplanted, as well as the 1 ton running gear, i was mainly wondering what came in the 3/4 ton suburbans, not knowing if the 454 was an option or not, as well as what the running gear. you guys are great help in getting my facts straight. /forums/images/graemlins/bow.gif

If you are making sur eit is a D60 front, then have your friend check and see if the steering arm on the driver side bolts on with 3 or 4 nuts... D60 king pins have 4 studs on the top and on the bottom.... The D44's will have a slightly curved steering arm with 3 studs/nuts holding it on...

On the 454 thing, I am not sure.

I thought you could get a 454 in a burb 3/4 ton. A guy I work with has an 89 2500 with a 454 TBI /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Just looked on KBB and it's an option /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

You can get a 454 in a 2wd 2500 burb in '89.

No 4x4s until 1992.

[/ QUOTE ]Bingo. Somehow GM thought the front IFS could handle more power than a good 'ol D44 or 10B. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif
