Suburban to cc swap *UPDATE* post #44, bed built

The rear seats in the suburban were perfect, no wear at all,too bad they were crushed. :o

lookin good but WOW that makes my frame look beefy(no offence). No wonder I have had sucha hard time making things work. the one ton frame is this big all the way to the engine bay then its normal sized.

heres a pic to explain as you can see the front where the steering is is normal 1/2 ton frame rails then as you move back the frame gets taller but it does so from the top down. So in order to make shackle hangers work I have had to drop the front hangers down. Otherwise my pinion would have a sever downward angle.

you can see the square tube i used to drop the front hangrs down in this pic. Its 3.5"x3.5" 1/4" wall

It would have been much easier to do it like you did I think and possibly I would be driving the dang thing by now.

Anyway good work Im liking it.

Yeah, even though mine is a 3/4 ton, it is still a Suburban frame. As soon as I can get my tank moved I'm gonna loose the extra frame behind the shackles.
What size tire are you gonna run? Are you gonna have enough room without hitting the cab corners?

Another with my son driving it.
I finished mounting the rear seats and seatbelts today.
P.S. I have an almost perfect red vinyl rear bench seat if anybody wants it.

Got the frame rear section welded in yesterday. Now I have to fab up a tank mount.

looks good, i wondered what frame was used that the real tires dont affect the cab corners....i just scrapped a suburban, if i would of known id of kept it.. nice job and yea super short..

I finished with it as far as the swap goes. I have all of the interior pretty much finished. I still have to build a bed and a grille. The winch bumper is too close to the core support to use a factory grille so I'll have to build one.

Yeah, I wanted to build a tube bed, but I don't have access to a bender so it might be square tubing.

Did I start something? :D Do I see a yellow crew cab in your Suburban's future? :burb:+:hack:=:crewcab:
