SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! ...."Mud Bog Boogie" PICS and VIDEO

That mud is a lot tougher than it looks, does your truck have full posi frt n rr?

What improvements could be made to make it run quicker thru the mud?

Was anything underneath the truck dragging, like the diffs?

I've never been to a contest like that but i would like to one day to see what " project scottsdale" will do in similar conditions.........that mud must be a lot stickier than what I'm accustomed to......anyway that was a admirable run and i really enjoyed the video, great job bro

Why is the video in slow motion ??

Oh wait a minute it's not :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

Just f*wkin with ya' ----great run !!

I love to play in the Mud!!!

Well I'm no expert (that run was my first EVER) but I'll give you my observations:

Improvements - MORE POWER! Big Surprise, huh? Once that mud starts hugging the tires you can really feel the motor getting loaded down. Torque would really help to sling the mud and clear the tread (my theory)

The mud was pretty deep and gooey. The diffs were definitely dragging and there were lots of ruts under the surface that that tires wanted to follow and sink deeper into... I sawed the wheel to clear the tread and to help climb up those ruts, which seemed to be a good technique.

My truck has a Detroit rear and open front. I didn't get the impression that the open diff was hurting me...all the tires were on slippery goo, so there wasn't a huge traction differential. I ran with about 10 psi of air pressure, since I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone else at the event. They seemed to run the gamut...from "street pressure" to low single-digits.

There were some guys who had big engines and tires and just WHOMPED the gas in the pit. Surprisingly, they didn't do much better than me. I think there is a limit to wheelspeed where it eventually works against you. If the tire is spinning too fast it can't really bite well either.

Overall, I found out that I came in 10th place in a class of about 40 trucks. Most of the guys who made full runs (150 feet) did it the same way I did.....just fighting the mud the whole way and taking a couple minutes to do it. A few select guys finished in less than a minute, but I'd guess that there were less than 5 all day that did that.

Anyway...that was my mud bog experience. I had a good time, and since the event is only about 5 miles from my house, I'm sure I'll do it again next year too. :thumb: :usaflag:

I agree, There were a few "mud drag trucks" at the rock crawl and mud bog last weekend, they did better because they could launch, but one guy was running cut 37" boggers, and had to let off the gas and had a hard time getting his momentum back.

The day before, one of the first trucks to make it through was a cj7 with 35" boggers, he had to work the wheel like you did but he made it all the way through.

Nice video, have any more from other trucks?
