Super Budget On-board Compressor

in the morning, but its a no name compressor with a max of 300 psi, its slow as hell though. It's an 11 gallon tank with 2 crosses on it on the bottom has the gauge and pressure relief valve. on the top it has the pressure switch, ball valve and then a check valve which is from the compressor

Dont take this the wrong way (I did what you have going on here years back) but for $150 you'd be better off buying a 10lb co2 tank and a fixed regulator. Faster, simpler and no load on the truck.

No offense taken, my compressor caught fire this morning trying to fill the tank. Back to drawing board, maybe I can find an arb on craigslist for cheap.

this will be going in mine when i put the interior back in

How much use do u get out of a 10lb tank?

That all depends on how you use it. Keep in mind that a 10lb CO2 tank cost around $23 to fill each time it's empty and not many places will refill your own bottle while you wait.

I'm a pain about having a lot of volume of air, I guess working in a shop spoils us.

But with these new electric impacts and cordless tools all I would need air for would be to air tires back up. :dunno:

Your tank looks nice, just hope you get a compressor figured out.

I get my scuba filled at a paintball place, if you buy any paintball supplies he fills it free, if not like its like $5 and he will do it right when I bring it in :waytogo:

So thread jack here..... What required to convert a scuba to a c02 setup? I have a few scuba tanks laying around, just can't use then for scuba anymore because I didn't keep up on the hydro testing.

Airgas will exchange your tank. So, if your not worried about how your tank looks/personal touches....it works just fine.

But, I didnt know about paintball shops....thats good to know.

My tank is just compressed air not CO2, but paintball people will fill CO2 stuff as well, thats what most people run in there guns anyways cuz the airtank setup is so much more expensive up front, and 20oz of compressed air is good for like 500 shots, where C02 is good for 1500 or so. But I got a sweet scuba fo free with the fill setup on top which is also not super cheap, and its got a quick disconnect fitting. Ive got some aluminum brackets for holding 6" PVC pipe onto a roof rack as a storage compartment, which are going to work perfect to hold the scuba securly in the back of the blazer:thumb: I know its not good for tools and such, but if its enough to get air in a tire to get it out of the dunes or something thats better than nothing right??

Yeah, compressed air is not the same, CO2 will give you about 10 time more than air for the same volume. If you are using it for the trail, and can get CO2 I would.

There's a paintball place in Gilroy that I use to fill mine. There's also a place in Santa Clara area called Beverage Service that fills while you wait.

The guy that fills mine will fill it even if the tanks out of date for scuba use cuz he knows its only used for Paintball, so thats a plus.

Was actually wondering about that beverage place. It's like half a mile from my work I pass it every now and then.

Wait you can fill a tire up with CO2? Well that seems like a much cheaper and simpler way than my frankenstien creation.
