Anyone ever tried to mate two (2) 203 gear boxes together, then mate that to a 205 in classic doubler fashion?

8 to 1 in the end.:doah:

I am pretty sure the owner of WMS machine shop did that at one point. It was in his stretched Jeep. Now I wonder if one of those 203 cases had a 3 to 1 gearset in it?

You sir need an Atlas. :eek1: I agree about the wheelbase, with a 4spd doubler my rear shaft is only 35" long. :doah:

After paying for the adapters to join the gear boxes an Atlas box would probably seem cheap.

Yup the owner of WMS had one, I thought it was in a toyota landcruiser though? There's also a guy on Pirate somewhere with one, I'm not sure who made the adaptors though for him

Not to change the subject too much, there was a streched jeep on a gm frame in a article about Alaska wheeling in a recent 4wheel and offroad mag. The caption said he was running a th350 connected to a 465 and a 205 IIRC. They didn't have any pics on the drivetrain, but sounded interesting. It was a somewhat recent issue.

You could probably get away with a torque converter auto in front of the 465. THe issue with dual 465's is too much torque is supplied to the input of the 2nd 465, and the input shaft or shaft between the 2 boxes breaks

I think I saw that article, definitely had to be in a Long wheelbase vehicle, looked promising though.

The reason I thought a 203/203/205 (tripler?) would be doable, was because it wouldn't be obscenely long.

IIRC it was a blue 4 door TJ that was grafted together out of 2, on a gm truck frame.

De-railing again:wink1:, there's also the guy who has entered TTC the last 2 years with the K5 on 49's with dual 465's.

It's a th400 actually, here's his build thread (or lack thereof). He's fallen on hard times and is selling it now. Part of that body was the "Metal Creek TJ" that originally belonged to some buddies of mine back in the day. It was a Peterson's Offroad...March 2008 I think? I was pretty excited to see Boulder Creek in a magazine, great grizzly hunting out there.

Dual 203s-205 has been done with an atlas-203 adapter. Unless your running giant AGs like the guys on bgreen's board in varied terrain like back home, I don't really see the point in all the weight. You can get 3:1 gearsets instead and accomplish just about the same thing.

I would think for the cost of a comparable Atlas (10.?? ratio version, I guess) you could do a 4spd/Doubler/Lomax and probably have a more durable and easily serviceable set up.
