Super Secretive Build Foolsize

I think mine was just under 300.00 20+ years ago brand new! I`ve not shot it much. But it is a good gun. My kid likes it...I'm left handed so I like my auto left Remington better! :D

Sweet Abomb too! :thumb: I want to do 52s on mine some day! Nice!

Yeeaaa someday I'll be able to afford a auto! Among so many other sweet toys. Ha Thanks on the bumper. The welds are nice and that thing has some weight to it! Can't wait to get some rock rash on it.

Parts from ORD

Got my parts tonight. To tired to really go grind the old rivets out and drill the frame out. I'll get on it this weekend. Need to go buy drill bits. Also didn't make it up to WFO but I should be able to make it up there Monday then I should be set.

Here's a picture of the sweet new shine parts. I like how the beefy everything is! And the bracket came painted. Same me a lil bit. I got the grease able bolts for the front and forgot to about the rear again. Hey I heard that the bolts on the shackles are supposes to be torqued to 35 pounds? Is this true or did I read it wrong? Thanks guys!

Yea I need one cuz I wanna start hunting. I have only heard good things about the older 870s. I guess the newer ones feel a lil cheaper. That's what my buddy was telling me. Been looking for an older one for awhile. And 250 out the door I was sold! The shop I bought it from said they thought it was a cop 870 I haven't looked the serial number up yet but the stock is pretty faded and the forearm looks brand new like sitting in a cop car. I'm not to worried about it tho. May get a new stock may not. Ha

easiest way to tell is to push out the 2 pins & pull out the trigger assembly. if there's a bunch of plastic parts, its a civilian 870 express . if metal, its the better gun. The civi model will still serve you well.

The older 870s came in the express and the wingmaster AFAIK they don't make the wingmaster any more. I have an 870 wingmaster and love it! Never shot the express tho. I also have an 1187 that is my go to shotty. Build is looking good keep up the good work!

So I got the parts from WFO and kinda got a lil set back... My plate isn't going to work on my axle. Ganna have to make my own I guess.

Just a lil set back. I started on enlarging the holes for the new ORD brackets. Just so some people know that are going to do this the rear top rivet is a pain... Then to drill the hole out was a ill bit of a struggle. Got one side done cuz it got dark and I'm lazy... Haven't really been motivated lately. I know it's the joys of working on these old trucks I'm just trying to keep thinking about the end result. Should fun and smash everything!

Still need to grind off a lot of rivets on the frame. Like all these... Not ganna be running stock shock locations nor stock bump stops. Zinging them off hopefully tomorrow.

Here a good one of the frame is shot with primer. It will be black don't worry. Ha just didn't want it start rusting a lil over night.

Those headers are brand new. Ha Bought them when I thought about keeping the 7.3 then I realized I could get close to the same power and WAY more MPGs. Learning as I got I guess. Will be selling the motor once I can get the truck under its own weight.

Could you guys help out and let me know what tcase this is??? It's behind a th350 if that helps... The crazy guy I bought the truck from said he changed it out but I don't really trust anything he said after he said there's no rust... :doah:

SO MUCH MUD UNDER THERE!!! I hate it so much...

Odd that the spring plate holes don't line up. I'd be talking to WFO about that. The transfer case looks like a 203.

Yeah, it is definitely an NP203. The large aluminum housing on the back gives it away, plus there is no bearing retainer for the countershaft, so it has to be a chain drive case.

Oh, and a 454 is a 7.4 Liter.

The np203 are crap right? I have a np205 I'm going to use in this build but I'm just wondering for sale. Crap I totally knew it was a 7.4 7.3 is Ferd... Ha Heads not all there I guess. The main reason why I don't want to keep the BB is for the fuel. Even with a programmer the best I was seeing people getting was 8-11. I would like something a lil better then that. I know big tires, cage, and our brick flying through the air body don't really help but I would like to try and get the best as I can.

Skunked: I was ganna see if they could make me a one off plate or something. I forgot to take the plate when I dropped axle off.

I wouldn't call an NP203 crap, but they aren't great.

If you are keeping that transmission, you could keep it for a doubler.

Seen a buddy limp home from cracking his cuz the chain slapped. A th350 is only a 3 speed? On the freeway that just doesn't seem like it would do great. Trying to build something that I can cruise to the trail, camping, around town and not blow through fuel...

If you go with a TH700R4, that NP203 will still work.

Martin

NP203 is chain driven and cast iron.

NP208 and NP241 are chain driven and aluminum.

All three were used by GM. NP203 from 1973-1979, NP208 from 1981-1988, and NP241 from 1989-1991.

Good to know. His was a 86 or 87 can't remember but yea got some bad chain slap and limped home. So I would rather go for a cast for the strength. Plus I already have a np205 waiting.

I would look for an NP241 out of a 1990 or 1991 K5 or V10 Suburban. Then you have a VSS.

An NP241 is a better case than an NP205 in every way but brute strength.

Ok. I don't know what the VSS means. Can you build them into doublers? I would like a really low range.

"I want to swap my BBC for an LS motor....."

Said no one ever.

Do what you like, it's your build but IMHO you are going to piss away a LOT of hard-earned cash on a motor swap and accomplish nothing.

BBC > LS > SBC

Sorry, your fuel mileage is going to suck no matter what. Make peace with that now.... You'll certainly never recoup the cost of a motor swap with fuel savings anyway.

Sig worthy right there.

Hi-jack off.
