I have had my k5 for about 2 years, and I never found out what these things are. They connect to the ends of the axles, and they follow all the way across under the axle. If anyone can tell me what these things are, and why they're a benefit, it would be greatly appreciated. They're bars that connect under the axle. They look like they are for sliding, but I'm not sure

Pics?.....sounds like axle trusses although they are usually on top of the axle?
They help prevent the axle tube from bending under extreme use.

Sounds like axle trusses to prevent housing flex. Do they attach at the ends via u-bolts? Pics?

I always thought it was funny they called these bolt on ones "trusses". Doubt they really added any real strength to the housing.

They're bars. Not the badass armor, but they go under the axle and connect to the knuckles at the end

Yep, old school (80's) aftermarket axle truss. Conn-Ferr I believe was the manufacturer. No offense but like skunked said, not much of a truss by today's standards.

Lol. Now my next question is, will they fit on a 3/4 ton with the dana 60 and a gm 14 bolt rear end?

Why do yo want them? Just useless added weight and another obstacle for objects to get caught on.

Nope. They never made those for a d60, there's not enough space inside the knuckle for the u-bolt.

You might be able to make the rear one work on a 14 bolt but it'll depend on if the end brackets will accept bigger u-bolts.
