DLH brought me a present today.:D Mmmm, DIY4X beef, thanks Kert.

I guess my hubby ordered this too late for Christmas (probably Christmas eve  ), then had to buy me more stuff when he realized it wouldn't make it. Oh well, his mess up equals more goodies for me. I overspent for his gifts so now we're probably about even. :wink1:

wow...can I marry your husband too?!!! Cool xmas presents!!!

Dingdingding, right on Gabe. It's the rattle end of 56" diamondback I got while quail hunting.

my father is semi-retired and guides quail hunts at burnt pine plantation in south east ga.
rattles, a noise that youll never forget if you get to experiance it live and up close:eek1:

gabe

Nope, never forget. Especially since I had to get a little closer than I wanted to. The dang thing was all coiled up ready to strike and wouldn't stretch out even with poking and prodding, so I had to get up close and personal for a clean head shot, and I do mean clean. 20 ga blew the head clean off, without a pellet to the body. Biologists will tell you they'll try to get away before they'll strike, but this guy never did. Stayed put at least 10 minutes after we first heard him while we were going after quail and even after we tried to get him to run. Just shows they can't predict nature no matter how much they think they know. Funny thing too, when we got close it quit rattling and just waited in striking position. What kind of rattlers do you mostly see down there in the south?

We dont see to many of them around here in central Texas. They are more down south. We have a lot of Copperheads and coral snakes. We never used to see any but more and more we are seein a few of em.

Nice Christmas loot too.

Wow that is a beautiful snake! It'd make a nice hide. I don't think that tote is big enough to make me feel safe though. :)

I assumed they were all over TX. Hmm, guess that's just from watching movies. Guess I should know, if I saw it in a movie it's probably not true.

BTW, just weighed the beef out of curiosity. It's 17lbs!!
