should I be using? Will the big block shroud work with the small block? My worry is the big space space between the fan on the small block and the big block shroud. This is what I am trying to avoid, or will that work properly?

you will need new mounts top and bottom and a shroud from a two will drive sub with a 454. you also need the top plate that mounts to core support from said Sub. You will have to relocate you evap canister.

I already have the mounts and top plate from big bock. Those should be the same right? What makes the should from a 2WD 454 suburban different than the other 454 shrouds?

the one from a Sub fits the whole radiator, some only fit about 3/4 of the radiator. I bought the first one from the dealer, found the right one in a junk yard.

I can't help with the bbc to sbc parts mix but since you're upgrading the cooling system, a '99 454 truck will have a 9 blade reverse rotation fan.

I put a 4 row in my '90 jimmy and reused the stock shroud. I trimmed the top off of it to match the upper plate. The reason I did it this way is because no factory shroud is quite perfect, and I already had it and a spare. My fan is into the shroud too far according to the rule, but it has no problem and I even used the a/c while running the 'top of the world ' trail last year at Blazer bash. I do have a '98 or so plastic vortec fan bolted to the TBI clutch. If I remember correctly it has 11 blades and was about $50 shipped new from gmpartsdirect.com. I will see if I can get a picture of it when my son brings it home.
The new radiator pads from LMC worked okay.

I don't know if you have heard, but the rule has been to have the fan halfway into the shroud. Mine as you can see is too far in. The fan also has a far amount of room around it, like the stock one did, as both are the same diameter. Like I said, so far, it hasn't been an issue. I guess I should explain my comment that there is not a factory shroud that is perfect. Since GM never built this combination, a big block 2wd will be too short. I am guess like the picture you posted. The BB 4x4 will be short as well, and I can't remember if you can buy that one.

I put a radiator out of a big block truck in my k10 with a small block. I looked around and even walked the local junk yard, heck I even bought some stuff. A shroud and a top plate with ribs in it that mounts it all. Couldn't seem to come up with the right combo so I said screw it and I've been running no shroud for years now. :)

Thanks, that looks like it will work. Can by chance get me the part # of the upper radiator hose and the manufacture? Thanks.

The upper hose is from Napa, 8847 is the # on the sticker. Sorry it took me a few to get back to you.
