Hey guy I have a few questions about swapping parts from my 78 to my 88.

My 78 has a 4in rancho lift. My 88 is stock. Will my 78 lift bolt up to the 88? My 88 has a blown trans. I want to take my turbo 350 and np203 from my 78 and put it in my 88. My 78 is carb and my 88 is fuel injected. What do you guys think?? thanks in advance

Anyone????

If the lift does fit, would it be easier to take off the lift by the parts or take the whole front axel off ?

whats up with your name in your avitar

your front springs will switch over. the axle in the 78 should be a dana 44, but might have different gears then the 10 bolt in your 88. should just change the springs. the rear springs will fit the 88 also. not sure about the shocks. to put a th350/203 in your 88 is possible but alot will be involved, like drive shaft lengths. ujoint interchange, your speedo wont work on the 203. plus I am not sure how switching from 700r to a th350 will effect the electrical aspect of things.

whats up with you name in your avitar :eek1:

sounds like it would be easier to have the 700r rebuilt and put my springs over to the 88 and get new shocks if I have to. Thanks. Anyone else have any ideas?

lol My name is "murder 79" cuz its all balck and I typed the wrong number.its suppose to be 78.lol why what did you thnink?

As said the lift will swap over. Dont swap the axle. The 30 spline 10 bolts in your 88 are stronger than a D44 front.
You could swap the TH350 but i would use the transfer case in the 88. It should be a NP 241 and IMO is a better case than a 203. The 241 will bolt up to a TH 350.
With the TH350 you will loose overdrive. and reallty gain nothing over the 700r4.
Both are pretty much equal in strength.
Best rebuild your 700r4. IMO

thanks. Ill try to take a pic of the t-case, I thought it was a 205. ill double check. I alos have some warn premium hubs on the 78, will those fit the 88?
