Swaybar or not?

I have run with and without.

Had a bar when the Burban build started, went to disconnects and liked it more disconnected.

Don't run a bar now and am happy with the ride, including the associated body roll.:D
 
I have heavy duty rancho springs in the front of mine. No sway bar and doesn't have excessive body roll. It probly has less body roll than the stock springs and sway bar now. Not everyone has the same experience on these trucks. Just have to see what works best for you.
 
I'm sitting on 8" springs and I had a sway bar on when I was running 10 bolts. After I switched to a D60 up front and crossover, the sway bar went away. My off road travel, of course, was dramatically improved and my on road stiffness was also better. A bit more body roll at speeds, but sitting on 38's I'm not racing F1 cars.

After the D60 and crossover set up I began to have some death wobble issues and ended up busting my whole steering box off the frame. I got hydro assist on now and all is well. I cruise at highway speeds comfortably and off road is better than ever.

In regards to the anti-sway bar disconnects, if you add them it may improve your overall ride while still preventing body roll. GM's design in the anti-sway bar only has 2 moving points (the axle & frame). If you look at other manufacturers they all have a third pivot point and not a direct connection to the frame. That seems to allow more straight line flexibility of the system while preventing body roll. If you get the sway bar disconnects, they become that third pivot point and may smooth out the ride :dunno:.

Just my 2 cents. I'm no engineer, just a farm boy that has done too many things twice to figure out the right way..

This is an important point. Using the stock swaybar mounts with lift springs usually leads to some binding. Even if you want to run the swaybar all the time, the disconnects are a good idea and improve the ride quality.

Hence why you will see the 2 frame mounts with cracks in them when you take the sway bar off. Not all the time but I have seen my fair share that are cracked

I guess I agree. Huge body roll is a badge of honor, telling all the grocery getters that you have an off-road suspension and not a plain jane SUV.
 
Well, a lot more responses than I would have guessed. I'll drive it a bit more without and see how she does.
 
If you have 4in + lift springs.. defiantly not. I took my off… never looked back.
 
I like how my truck feels offroad with a rear sway bar
 
i'm planning on adding a rear one too. mines more of a road rig anyway
 
We hit 90 on the interstate with my '90 K5 just to see if it would. It is on 52" and 56" springs with no sway bar.

I finished my install a while back and I absolutely LOVE the sway bar up front! One of the best upgrades I've done as far as handling is concerned. No more body roll or wallow on the highway but still a smooth ride. When disconnected it no longer leans so heavily when off camber but I still have a full range of articulation. Definitely recommend the ORO sway loc system
