Sweet crew cab

I just passed on a great deal on an 89 CC V3500. I just couldn't justify it for any use. I don't want to give up he MPG I get in my DD 97 K1500. I thought about getting it and parting it out, but I remember that truck when it was new, and loved it then, and just couldn't see myself gutting it for the D60 etc.

The only thing wrong with it was the engine. It belonged to my father in laws buddy, and he was going to let me have it for 1000.00. But, I passed because he had another guy interested, who was going to fix it up. So, if it isn't already, then it should be back out on the road again soon. :thumb:

I was very tempted to sell my 97 and drive the CC though.

Since everybody is posting up pictures of their Crew Cab, I might as well post mine.

Anyone wheel your CC?

I have done some light trail wheeling. Because of the long wheel base, I have to be very aware of excessively steep grades around me, or it will high center. My Crew Cab does well in sandy desert washes. It has a Detroit locker in the rear (installed by a PO), but it is still open on the front Dana-60. I would like to get a Detroit locker for my front Dana-60 too, but I need to change the gear ratio from its stock 4.10:1 to 4:56 or 5.13. NVRENUF said that I should go with 5.13's because after he went with 4.56's, in his Crew Cab, it still was not quite enough.

Ok well i am really thinking about going crew cab short bed with a newer diesel:D , because well i dont really want a monthly loan payment on a newer diesel and well u gotta love old school chevy with a solid front axle and 2 stacks coming up right behind the cab.

But there are like zero crew cabs around here and the ones i can find are pretty spendy.

So my question is can i just lengthen the suburban frame like 18" and add a short bed truck bed? yes i would have to move the rear spring mounts back.

But are the frames the same besides the length from the rear spring hangers back?

It's not a very flattering photo but here's a shot of mine.

This is a nice truck. One thing I would like to know is how did they get the step bars to bolt up for the rear door? The saddle gas tanks obstruct the ability to mount a step bar for the rear doors. I was planning on getting a 50-Gallon auxillary fuel tank in the bed of my truck, just behind the cab so I could get rid of the exploding gas tanks on the side. Another thing I cannot understand is why some one would put so much time and money in a truck, and then want to sell it. They will have to bury me with my old Chevy Crew Cab.

those steps just bolt through the pinchweld

those steps just bolt through the pinchweld

The saddle gas tank on the side interferes with that. There is not enough room between the pinch weld and the gas tank to fit the bracket which bolts to the pinch weld.
