Have an 85 205 that needs a SYE kit. I need to know which SYE part number and yoke to get. I'm starting from scratch so do I need a 1350 or 1410 yoke? What's best? New driveshafts will be built.

Highangle Driveline really pushes the 1410. I have heard from people like Tom woods, who is far more friendly and helpful then the folks at high angle driveline, that the 1410 has stronger specs, but they haven’t experienced any real benefit from it to warrant the extra cost. It’s my understanding though that the 1410 does offer slightly better angles. I’m not going to be of any help here other than telling you what I have been told. I’m interested to see what the general consensus is.

It totally depends on alot of other things.
I am not familiar with your rig. List some specs but off the hip I'm going to suggest 1350 because that's what a 14 bolt has and is likely what you have or will have. It is very stout as is.

It's a plain vanilla setup. 350 sbc, 14 bolt (year unknown) & dana 44 front, TH400 trans and 205 from @1-ton 85 K30 dually. 6" spring lift that will be changed out for a 4" kit & flip kit. Will be running Hmmwv 24 bolts with 37's.

Wanted a doubler setup but can't swing it this year

After hanging with @Fastereddie today I've decided we're doing 4.88 gears detroit in the back and mini spool up front.

Pic of said hooptie attached. It's main purpose will be desert type terrain and race car retrieval.

I'm going to suggest a 1350 flange and a 1350cv shaft. Perfect for that setup. With 4.88 that driveshaft will be hauling butt. The cv will minimize vibes compared to a traditional non cv slip shaft.

Also if I could suggest a lock rite for the front and twin stick the 205. You can kick the front shaft in neutral and the lockrite will unlock and act open and you can steer. Shift it back in gear and boom, you're locked again.

Sounds good, i appreciate the advice.

Did you rebuild the trans? Even though that transmission worked, it had a lot of miles on it. Like many 4-wheel trucks people buy, that K30 was mostly driven on the street, and the transfer case was hardly ever used in 4-wheel drive.

It's getting rebuilt right now. The transfer case will be gone through when I get the slip yoke kit. Only want to do this once and be able to run it for a long time.

CV joint is probably in your future, I'd embrace it now rather than later. It's cheaper that way.
Get the flange for the T-case and keep the stock 1350 at the pinion. Run good straps and bolts and carry a couple spares and it'll be fine. The stock 14 bolt yoke is pretty good and you won't be putting that much torque to it all with the shorter tires and when you have a D44 up front. Your 50 amp rear fuse is just fine when you have a 10 amp fuse up front!

I hear you. I'm hunting for a bigger fuse now..lol won't happen before BB though. Soon as the trans is done shafts are next. I already snagged the SYE from you. Can I order the flange off your site, if so what's the part number?

lol
yeah, 1350 is fine. I've got that all around except the 14b yoke is a 1410. Why? Cause it was basically free :D BUT, that just means I have to carry a couple different size spares instead of just a 1350 for all.

@K85 Octane do you have any parts I need you want to let go of?

Dana 60 also......

Also, when you do your lift, consider moving the axles while you are at it. If you run 56s in the rear, flip them and move the axle back 4". When you order up driveshafts, you'll be ready for the extra length. It's worth wild and I don't feel any negative effects on the street etc. You will need to address shock location and maybe exhaust routing.

What did 56" springs come in and does it lift it any doing so? I'm trying to stay at 3.5-4 inch lift total.

73-87 3/4 and 1 tons. Some burbs and most 3/4 ton trucks.

Run them backward and they can stretch the wheelbase 4". They offer no lift change from a stock 52 other than pack thickness.

You will likely need to cut the hell out of it but it is pretty cool looking.

Oh yeah that looks like the ticket.

@obijuank5 Does the ORD flip kit still mount the same or does it need longer shackles? (I'm running a 2.5 flip kit.)
