Tall narrow 17" tires?

Ok so here is a tangent.
If you want narrow and heavy duty tires, you have another option but it's not 17" rims.
Get yourself some 19.5" rims and use one of the many sizes ranging from 36" to 42".
There are companies that make single wheels in 19.5" now for RV's that don't want dually but want the g load rating

I thought of that. Problem is most if not all 19.5's run a 10 lug. For me that means adapter to get that pattern and I'm not willing to do that. I need something in the E load range that will still dig in the snow. Most of the larger 19.5's are highway tires. Although I have seen some industrial tires in that range.

No, they have them in 8 lug.
I had a set of dually wheels in 8 lug but the aftermarket is makung them in single wheels in 8lug and 10 lug

Cooper makes their AT3 in a 305/70r17 which is 34x12. I just ordered a set for the Dodge.

They also make a 285/75r18 which is a 35x11.5. I know wrong rim size but it's closer to the tire you want.

I think the problem you have is you need the wider tire to have more lateral stability. A tall skinny tire is more likely to fold sideways under lateral loads.

Yeah, if you go up to a 18” rim you have some options in 265/275/285 widths that put you in the 33-35” tall but not 12” wide range.

I don’t know that an E rated tire would just fold over though. Pretty strong sidewall and I bet the tire manufacturers are aware their tires are mostly going on bro trucks that drive on the highway every day.

Just run a 12.50 on an 8" wide rim. Prob your best option for a skinny 37". My 35s are on a 7" rim and they look pretty skinny.

That is most likely what I'll be doing. The wheels I have are 8" aluminum wheels. All I could find cheap for mock up. If I can use them I will. I've been back and forth on the 16" and 16.5 wheels for the Superduty axles and while they will all "Fit" the back spacing is really shallow. Like 3.25" backspacing. They will all push the tires out really wide and that's something I don't want or need on an already WIDE setup. My perfect scenario would be to run Hummer bead locks and Cheap military take off 37" baja's but I don't think that is going to happen. The 3.25" backspacing is about all that the Hummer wheels will go. They won't go over the calipers.

You're correct, it's just my favorite pattern. The good year tires that are current issue are very similar in tread design and are readily available. I live 20 minutes from an AIRFORCE base that uses a TON of them. As in truckloads a year. Good friend that lives just at the bottom of my mountain is a Tech in the motor pool there. They have about 50 HUMMWV's. Let's just say tires would be easily procured.

Those are the old Michelin XL’s. They haven’t made those in over ten years.

For reference, these are stock H1s with 38x12.5s. Tall and skinny is the way to go.

I like the new 13.50x42 Boggers but they are a little odd looking on a big truck.
