so i asked about this on pirate and got my ass chewed(few nice guys but the rest suck). so. what are yalls opinion on doing a converison of a console shifter to a tap handle? the only problem i could think of running into is the safety switch but someone told me that you dont HAVE to have one. what i came up with was cut the stick somewhere close to the bottom and add a threaded end for the tap handle but jic you do need the safety switch(im 90% sure you do) could you just use a momentary switch to replace the stock one? has anybody ever done this before?

something like this

I believe my uncle took his switch out and doesn't use his on his Vette powered heep. If you are talking about a beer tap handle will it hold up to hard shifting etc since they are usually made of a plastic? Will I handle the abuse a floor shifter can sometimes get?

well the vehicle i would be doing it in is a 94 cherokee auto. so i wouldnt think the shifter would take the abuse of say a sm465. just put it in drive and go.

but. with what you stated in mind, there is a possibility of maybe drilling a hole through the tap and laying in a metal rod for support. that might help some

or i could use somethin like this lol
