I'm getting a code 44 and I don't know why.
I have replaced fuel filter fuel pump fuel pump sock. Entire throttle body.
I didn't replace everything because of this code.
I have been rebuilding my k5. And dropped a new engine in, and the truck falls flat on its face at a higher rpm. If I let off the throttle and get back on it, the engine will still run normal.

Not sure about the performance thing with the O2 sensor, some people swear that it affects things, I know it's supposed to control the air/fuel mixture...

BUT...

On my move from Arizona to Indiana several years back, the O2 sensor plug came unplugged from the harness half way through th trip. Yes, the check engine light came on, but I never felt any noticeable difference in performance. Was possibly a bit more fuel used though.

Code 44 says it's reading lean, maybe vacuum leaks, bad EGR maybe?

I blocked off the egr no difference and seems to be working as intended I am also getting a code 33, which would be map sensor?

Update 44 seems to be gone, changed injector screens and used injection cleaner.
Now when I get to a high rpm it falls flat on its face, and if I let off and get back on it, it comes back alive, which is not fun. Also seems to be a stumble from Idle to wot. And then it catches. It'll Rev up fine in Park. Just not under load.

Check out the distributor, too. Could be something up with the rotor, button or cap. Could also be a crummy pick-up coil or module. I'm just suggesting disassembly and physical inspection of the parts for now.

Brand new distributor. Not reman

Fuel is fresh. From cleaned tank to filled up

No codes now?

Whats the timing like?

If it's stumbling under actual load/WOT, it's definitely not an O2 sensor issue. Fuel or spark IMO, since EGR is ruled out. Can you watch fuel pressure under load? Is the problem 100% repeatable?

I can't watch FP under load, I have tried my timing at 0-4* btdc with the wire unhooked. It's repetitive.
I have new fuel pump, filter strainer. Injectors, FPR.
It stumbles on takeoff and then cuts out while driving, if I let off and get back on it. It'll run for a little more till same problem

Sure sounds like a lack of fuel or detonation problem if it runs fine outside of heavy load.

Still haven't figured it out if I have low fuel pressure under load What could it be I have replaced fuel filter fuel pressure regulator fuel pump. Hose in the tank. Sock filter. And swapped throttle body with another working one

Still soundalike mine did with a bad fuel Pump. Test pressure again. Regulator set to Correct pressure now? I heard 12-13 is the best with a regulator

Can't watch fuel pressure, 100% repeatable. Hot or cold. I get more throttle response with cts unplugged but still falls on its face
