TBI/ECM problems without air pump?

Yes, I'm aware of the VSS issues. However, I no longer even have the option of running a speedo due to the Ford/GM hybrid 205 case. The output shaft is Ford with the small gear and the tail housing is GM with the driven gear which does not make up with the smaller Ford drive gear. I'm told that there exists a driven gear that will work with the Ford output and GM output housing, but it (aparently) only exists in the rare late model 205s.

If anyone can verify that information (or provide years/part#?) then I would appreciate it...

Maybe someday I'll get it fixed, but it just isn't high on my priorites right now. I probably should have gone ahead and used my GM output just so I would have the speedo drive, but the Ford case was nearly new inside and I wanted to keep all the pieces together. Thanks for the warning though...

Man, you and Eric have all the cool books. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I guess that's the best way to go about checking it out, just disconnect and see what WinALDL says about it.

Thanks again! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yeah I tried hunting down an elusive "Dodge 205 VSS generator" that was attached to the end of the 205 driven gear, around '92 or so, but the Dodge forum I went to gave me a "what?" response, especially about what the output was.

I'd like to run the '90 digital speedo in my truck, but you've pretty much got to do the 241 toner ring/pickup mod to the 205 output shaft housing to make that work. I'm sick of the sometimes bouncy speedo, and with EFI, I want the ECM having reliable, stable speed input. Besides, the '90 trip odometer seems better designed.

Apparently GM quit selling the DRAC for the '90-91 setups. Found over at the GM-ECM list a tech article on changing the DRAC to match tire size, but I've gotta get my hands on one of those too...never ending projects /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW the books are handy, but I'd sure like to have a TBI truck manual or two, but no real point for ME to own one, except I could be better informed about how they actually operate (for instance AIR) instead of speculating. But unless someone just gives me one, it's not going to happen.
