Hey guys! It's been 6 years since I did any wrenching. Finally getting to fix my truck! Hoping I remember which end of the wrench to hammer with.

Anyway, I'll save you the drama story (which some of you may remember). But in short: 6 years ago I replaced my engine with a remanned unit that turned out to be bad from the get-go. Due to the timing in my life, I couldn't deal with pursuing the warranty and replacing the engine. Today my new GM TBI engine was delivered. Can't wait to get it installed and get back on the trail! Hope to get this done with enough time to get some snow wheeling in this winter.

I tore down the TBI unit over the weekend. Need to get into the parts shop to get the rebuild kit and some new injectors.

Good to see you on again Colby. Hopefully the new engine is a winner

The standard is 18" x28 , with the 454 being 20"x33

Highly recommend going with something like this from Amazon. You'd be shocked the prices you can get some tig welded aluminum stuff. Idk what the pricing would be for you to do you own fans, but check it out.

Look forward to seeing your progress! I know you must be excited to be working on it again as well.
Good luck, and keep us updated.

Welcome back!

Now is a good time to add an adjustable fuel pressure regulator btw...

Talk to me like I'm dumb. Because I am. Why would I want to do that?

TBI's run best at 13 PSI (which is what GM speced out) however usually the stock fuel pump usually runs them about 10 or so PSI. It still allows it to run and run OK, but you are not getting the most out of it.

Stock gm was 9-11 psi average . They like 13 psi best with out tunning . But you will need a guage to set it . Lots of guys have reported a noticeable increase.

I usually just throw in a TPI Camaro fuel pump. The TBI regulator doesn't have any problem bypassing the extra fuel back to the tank and the stock regulator will usually hold at 13 psi as long as the pump is capable of producing that (which most "TBI" pumps are not without regulator adjustments).

Bump base timing to 10° and run premium gas. This combination will usually yield a noticeable improvement in throttle response a d fuel economy...

So to be clear, you don't bother with adjusting the fuel pressure regulator, you just put in a higher performing pump, and it basically accomplishes the same thing?
