This is for a 71 which originally came with a carb. I need to run a return line for a tbi conversion and I happen to have a vent line from the gas tank to the charcoal canister which is 1/4" line. Is this line large enough to use as a fuel return line?

I'm thinking I could get an indentical replacement line and run it in the same spot instead of making a custom return line or trying to run rubber line back to the tank.

Not sure if it is big enough, it would probably work though. Factory I think was 3/8 feed, 5/16 return, 1/4 vent.

I can measure my return line when i go back outside to work on my rig in a while.

How far along are you with the install now? Is the engine finally in the rig?

Well...not quite yet. The clutch pivot still has me hung up. I have an idea on how to fix the problem. I just may need some light machining on my pivot stud.

Did you get my PM about the air cleaner stud? You should come see me tomorrow and we can check out the pivot ball situation. If you do come bring the ball with you.

I converted my 81 Chevy truck to TBI in December. I removed my fuel filler neck vent line, made a copper T , installed this T in the vent line, reinstalled it on the truck and connected this to the 5 / 16 fuel return line. It works fine and does not interfere with the tank vent or emission plumbing.

Any pictures? I am a visual learner :D

The picture file size too big. A friend will reformat them tonight and I will post them Tuesday. Sorry about the delay.

Well, since i got you covered on the pivot ball is it running yet?

is it running yet?

I broke the little clip in the clutch fork when I was installing it so I had to mail order a new one. Everything is lined up and ready to install in the garage so next weekend is the big date.
