TBI - high idle = vacuum leak?

Alright, the idle problem came back again. When I went to replace the tbi gasket, I discovered the throttle body bolts wern't very tight and while I was replacing the gasket, I also discovered a leak in the aftermarket vacuum canister I have. I know I've checked the hoses before and didn't find anything, but it wasn't holding any vacuum at all now. After plugging it off and resetting the ECM, the thing runs great! In fact it's never had this much power.

If that vacuum leak has been around for several thousand miles, would that do any big harm to the motor? I've heard burnt valves can be caused by excessive leaks like that.

I doubt it if it's still running good! :D

The TBI vacuum leak is centrally located and spreads evenly. Where was the other?

From a vacuum canister that holds vacuum from the intake manifold to operate the heater and ac controls. I bought it brand new, but never actually checked if it held vacuum. It's a black plastic sphere that is made from two pieces glued together. It looks like the glue didn't hold the pieces together very well and when I pulled on it lightly to see if it was ok, the whole thing split in half.
