Eh, I noticed mine more with engine load. Not sure exactly why, or maybe I just imagined it, but you are probably right...something like that should be fairly consistent since belt tension is also pretty consistent with RPM. (except dealing with high electrical loads, which do heavily load the engine)

With your knock counts staying at 0 most of the time it's doubtful you're hearing detonation. I would get it over to Scott ASAP and let him listen to it so you're not chasing your tail and/or potentially hurting something.

Scott drove it a bit today and it is pinging although he says it's not that bad. My new chip didn't show up today though so I'm a day behind now... I'll have to assume it'll fix the problem and keep getting it ready for the trip.

The new fuel pump works fine now though.
