So I've had my tcase dropped for about two years now using the stock spacers below the frame. Apparently this is bad and will eventually cause the frame to crack. sooo... I was wondering what you all have used instead of the stock spacers? stacked washers perhaps?

Finally got the bar stock. I was just wondering is there any point in capping off the sides? Or is it already strong enough as it is?

Umm, if it's solid, what is there to cap off? ("Bar" implies solid, as opposed to "tube", i.e. hollow.)

Well I'm an idiot. your right. I bought square tubing....off to the local steel supplier again.

If you're running tubing you "should" cap and sleeve it but sometimes people get lucky. I just got rid of my spacers when I moved from 6" lift down to 4"... I "should" have kept them but I'll deal with the vibes in trade for more clearance. :wink1:

i actually run the tubing and haven't had any problems. maybe i should change??

Well, it's a question of wall thickness ... but assuming you're running 1" to 1.5" square tubing, the wall can't be more than what, .095" or whatever that is, maybe .125" if you're lucky. I don't think you can get .250" wall in something that small, for instance.

Solid stock, while expensive, *can't* crush from overtightening and is essentially not going to deform from the torsional forces on the thing... mind you, seems like the thicker the spacer, the longer the leverage arm against the bolt head and the frame... but I digress ;)

The remains of my K5 body from my truck cab swap. :D

ahh i see.

I cracked the windshield after realizing how badly rusted my tub was and then stumbled upon a cab with good floors and a good windshield for $200 :wink1: I guess to me a cab swap was easier than changing glass. Of course I broke the back window in the cab almost immediatly and mangled the door pillars so the doors don't fit anymore within a month. :doah:

:Hijack off:
