Teck's '86 K5 Build -5.3 LS/4L65E swap

Absolutely sweet rig Tech. Any idea if the plastic seat hing covers are available through LMC or Classic? Mine are all busted up and I haven't had any luck finding new ones.

No have not found them anywhere. Mine are not that great had to do some repair work on them and add some screws to help hold them in place. The one on the passenger side always got hang on someone getting in or out. I try to get them from GM 20 some years ago and they didn't even offer them or I would have got several sets cause they broke so easy.

Nice job on the build Teck. A few months ago I almost bought a '86 K5 that was bright red with a black hardtop and the red interior. It was too much of a basket case for how much the seller was asking so I passed on it.

One Year Update sence I started work on my K5

Work on it has slowed way down cause work is slow, not much extra money these days.
Trying to get relays wired to the power windows, Passanger side is done, much faster.

Got the driver window done this afternoon. It really makes a big difference

Big difference eh? Wasn't there a write up about this somewhere recently? Did you also rebuild your window motor and tracks and such?

This truck is SO nice. Mine could never be this nice, although I would love to be able to build one like this someday. Looks better then new.

Thanks
I'm look at buy an 87 that the guy wants $800.00 for to put my body on so, I can work on the frame and running gear

how do you pick up that pristine body without scratching/denting it? I'm curious as I may do the same one day

(mine is getting painted now, but the frame is still original with some surface rust)

The guys next door to my shop has a 2 post lift, just have to be real careful.

definitely real careful..lol...appreciate the brown paper you sent me awhile back also for the rear panels much appreciated...I'm in the process of finalizing clean up on the tub right now and hopefully by next saturday sandblasting my tub and front clip so that I can start with the body work...I'm still stuck on whether or not I should paint the top the same color as the blazer or paint it white...I'm going blue for the truck by the way...any idea guys...sorry also not trying to jack the post...just figured I'd ask why we are on such a pristine blazer that I'm trying to mimick but in a different color.

As you can see I like them the same color as the body. When I ordered mine new you could only get a white or black top. The dealer had to send it out to have it painted ( top of the cab and the removable top) because they where white. So it looked real cheap when it came in, white top, no tint on any of the windows and 205/15 tires on white wheels with hub caps.

It looked worse then cheap, I told them there was no way that was what I ordered.
The first thing I did was tinted the window.
Then it only took me 2 days to have a 8" lift and 38's on it.:D
I don't even think it had 200 miles on it yet.

One million thanks!! Just ordered it. I know if I didn't replace that piece it would have driven me nuts. Your truck is a tough act to follow. Like others have said, it looks better than factory.
