BLECH! Nope still not sold. I get there's a method to the madness between the shape and overall design but it's not pleasing to the eye to me. I'm not against what's under the skin for the drivetrain but the body ain't doing it for me.
It's probably as polarizing some of the most infamous car designs ever done before it. Chrysler Airflow, Ford's Edsel and Pontiac Aztek come to my mind. One either loves it or hates it, zero in between. Considering how it worked out for the three I mentioned it's a bold move on Elon's part.
Looks like it would make a nice wheel chock for an 18 wheeler..
Probably see one wedged under a semi as soon as they hit the roads..

Yeah, they kind of failed that part of the test where you might want to put a load in your truck and take it somewhere more than 12 miles. Not a lot of charging stations around the Nevada desert. Or anywhere else outside the urban centers. I want to know what the range is on the electric big rigs they have out now...and how are they getting those to go so far when the pickup can't get out of the neighborhood?
The big rig has 2 ranges, one is 300 miles for I think 180k and a 500 miles range for 225k.
These numbers could be different now but that's what I remember from a year ago aroung launch time.
@anwat It has to do with size and weight of the batteries. As companies figure out how to improve the power density of the batteries, the range will increase. I saw a video of the cummins class 7 concept big rig and it had a range of 100 miles, and the battery was the size and weight equivalent to a 12 liter diesel.
This thread is very disappointing to me, as i have a lot of respect for most of the members here, but there is a TON of untrue statements being made in this thread.
While I understand that this vehicle isn't exactly everyone's cup of tea, especially here, the technological advancements being made are very significant.
Ive been a Tesla employee for 5 yrs, and finally picked up my first vehicle a year ago. It's an absolute game changer, and is saving me money each month vs the commuter I had before.
If anyone wants to chat truthful details about these products, feel free to shoot me a PM. It's really hard to understand these vehicles without first hand experience, but anyone with an open mind that is ready to drive one should reach out to me. I can get you scheduled for an official test drive, or you can swing by and take mine for a joy ride.
Don't worry, my squarebody burb and my dmax burb aren't going anywhere, but products like this are going to change the landscape of light and heavy duty trucks going into the future.

Why keep the truth to PM's? Why not post them openly so we can all learn? I'd say pick the 3 most common ones and go from there.
I'm one of those, I simply don't care for them as a car. The technology is interesting but I'm more interested in the battery technology being available in my home than the car itself. I can also see the desirability for those that commute long distance (like yourself) but my commute consists of 4 miles of back roads.
and yes, I've driven a tesla (several actually) and I have access to one whenever I want it but it just sits in the shop. With the $110K+ spent on that car I would have chosen several other cars given the opportunity.
