Texas to Moab trip planning thread

More like 5 for you and 4 for me:D

If I want I can be there with buggy in tow in 2.5 to 3 :D

The Bubbas of the world don't like to hear that but many a late night run has been made with the cruise set well over 85.

Normal length of trip is 3 to 3.5 depending on if I stop in GJ for a fillup or if I start with a full tank from home.

I am leaving on Wednsday the 17th at around 6am. I will end the days driving in Gallup NM. It may take me 10 hours, it may be more like 14. I will relax there for the night and leave the next morning to finish the trip. Should be less than 6 hours from Gallup so I may leave around 7 am to put me in Moab around 1pm. That allows me plenty of daylight to get my stuff unloaded and my camp setup. I will enjoy a few cold adult beverages and meet a bunch of people from here.

I am going out 380 to 287. Hitting 40 around Amarillo, and taking it to Gallup. That is where I am stopping for the night. The timezone thing is going to mess with my head. Are they an hour ahead, or behind us?
The next day, I am gonna take 491 to 191 and turn into Slickrock campground, on the north side of Moab.

How are you going, and are you going to make it non-stop, or are you stopping? You will probably pass me at some point. I don't drive too fast, without OD.

I haven't towed since the IP mods, but I know it will run at 3K rpm now. Up from 2400 before. 70-75 shouldn't be a problem now.

I talked to ProjectFreedom this morning & finalized our initial plans :haha: We'll leave early Wednesday morning, ~5 am, and either stop in Las Cruces or meet with you in Gallup. From there, leave Thursday morning to Moab...spend the rest of the day looking around the town. We made our reservations for Archview, which is 10 miles north of Moab. The cabins just looked nicer. But I think we're gonna unload the rigs once we get there & meet up with everyone at Slickrock to maybe have dinner? They're an hour behind :D

I am selling my stuff, so I will not be going to Moab. It really sucks. After all my planning ang talking and getting ready for the trip, I am out.
