TH350 check ball locations...

I'm currently tearing down my transmission. Obviously, I'll be taking pictures of everything, but something that's easier to reference is always nice as well. So, I came across this pic online and was wondering if anyone knowsif it's accurate.

Is your trans a lock-up 350? if so, those are accurate locations. The only ball you really need is the one at the lower left above the modulator valve, all others can be left out and you will still have three speeds and lockup.

Not sure what lockup is. It's in a 76 Blazer. Almost 100% sure it's stock.

yours will be non lock-up if it is a stock 1976 model TH-350

I read somewhere else that older models will only have 4, with the one at the top of the pic missing. Anyone know? I'm just afraid I'll remove the valve body and they'll ask fall out before I get a chance to take a pic.

Yes, non lock-up models only have 4 balls, the fifth one in the picture up top is for the converter clutch. Why are you removing this valve body? Do you have any kind of instructional manual to help you along?

I have to remove it in order to replace the gaskets during the rebuild.
