All of the sudden my turbo 350 does not move my truck. It does not move in forward or reverse. It never slipped prior to this. Park holds the truck like it should, but in all other positions it acts like its in neutral. The fluid is full and it does not smell burned. At first I thought the shifter linkage might be the problem. But I checked underneath, and the shifter is moving the gear selector through all positions.

Anyone have some advice on this? Could it be the pump or the torque converter?

I just looked at a diagram online. It looks like low and reverse use the same clutches, so if those clutches are toast that would explain why its not going either direction.

It just seems wierd that it happened all at once, without any noticable slippage.

I would say it is probably a pump problem. Hook up some guages to your coolant lines and see what the pressure is. You could also drop the pan and look for chunks of metal. If the pump goes out though you probably sent metal throught out the whole transmission

made sure the tcase is in gear? i made that mistake when my blazer got towed to an impound yard. they put the tcase in nuetral and it was no go.

The "S" link inside the tranny thar connects the shifter to the valve body selector may have fallen out or broke..it'll still "feel" like its shifting OK because of the ratchet detent thingy still working, but park still works because its got a separate linkage...

My friend bought a nice 99 S10 Blazer for 300 bucks because it had a "bolwn tranny"--turned out to be nothing more than the transfer case,it somehow got kicked into neutral!..

:doah:daaayuumm... forgot about that "little detail". Its a good thing I havent dropped the pan yet. I'll check the t case first. Its not at my house, I cant check it tonight. I'll give an update tomorrow.

Don't get too optimistic, Park would not hold if the transfer case were in neutral.
