th350, question about fluid level

i just picked up a brand new used 1974 k10.

i have fluid leaking out where the throttle kickdown cable mounts to the transmission case.

is it normal to have tranny fluid that high up in the case with the truck parked/engine off?

dipstick shows that i need to add fluid, but i'm wondering if its even the correct dipstick.

Yes, fluid will leak from there if the O-ring is damaged or the cable housing is broke.
