Read on some website (that I am now unable to find) that the power needed to drive a 700R4 was nearly double that of a TH350, something like 65 hp loss through the 700 versus 35 hp loss through the 350.

It seems like a huge difference.

Wondering if anyone can confirm or deny or otherwise provide any real info on this...

I know quite a few guys who would like to fill their 700R4's with cement..and use them for boat anchors!..after they start losing reverse and overdrive.:rolleyes2:..me included !..:tongue1:

I can't say anything factual about the power loss, but I can tell you that I never noticed any decreased performance when I swapped one in place if a TH350 in my old C10. Only felt like an improvement!!
Now I like the lower 1st gear in the 700, but the splits are better in the 350..

Bagged Buick 4wd would be rediculous. Would look cool spinning all 4 tires on the boat ramp pulling the boat out of the water.

It will take more energy to turn overdrive(as on a 700R4) + 4.11 rear gear than direct drive ( like a TH-350's top gear 1:1) + 2.56 rear gear

But this is kinda splitting hairs........
