I was cleaning the th400 from my donor truck and noticed this scaring on the outer shaft. Will this cause an issue with the torque converter and or lead to potential leakage?
Please move if this is in the wrong area.
Thanks is advance.

I thought I would reply to this , since it has been a couple days after you posted, and no body else has replied. It is frustrating when you want an answer to a question, and no one wants to give their two cents, but here is mine. I am no expert , but have been researching the th350 /400 transmission lately , as I have both. Anyway , that scoring looks like the result of a worn stator shaft bushing. After a lot of miles this bushing wears out, and this scoring is the result. As for leaks , the scoring does not look too bad, so it may , or may not leak, but rebuild manuals I have recommend replacing ,when they get scored............Maybe a real expert on the subject will jump in here, as I know there are a few on this forum.I guess the convertor could be worn ,too and cause this but not sure.....
