That "K5" concept is back

GM sold a bunch of cars out of their Heritage Collection not too long ago, looks legit to me.

Achy up the triad from me has something like that. It doesn't look like a concept car it looks like an aftermarket modification. This one looks like an oversized Isuzu rodeo.

Unfortunately it is a GM concept car, the soft top I had not seen but I remember it when it came out as a concept, it still even has the same color.
I believe the reason it looks like a rodeo is because GM and isuzu do a lot of work together and possible Isuzu did the work, or Isuzu took the concept and made Isuzo Rodeo out of it but GM decided to drop it.

Didn't GM own a chunk of Isuzu? It probably is a collaboration between them. That soft top is sad though.

Yep, they sure did. I got very drunk one night with some GM and Isuzu execs back in college when we were visiting Orlando. :haha:

I could have swore I either heard or read somewhere, that the Duramax is actually an Isuzu designed engine, also several yearsback they had those Isuzu pick ups that were almost identical to the S-10 trucks too.

The Isuzu Hombre, which IIRC was Isuzu-designed but GM manufactured. Isuzu did a lot of badge sharing; I think the Amigo/Rodeo Sport and the Vehicross, the one that looked like a big tennis shoe, were the only ones that were sold only under that name. (In the US -- don't get me started about overseas.)

The Trooper was also sold as an Acura, IIRC; the Honda Passport was a rebadged Rodeo, and then at the end they were selling the Ascender which was the Trailblazer, itself some derivative of the S-10 line.

And yes, Isuzu was part-owned by GM, so there were multiple levels of partnership and co-development occurring. Isuzu left the consumer vehicle market ca. 2006 to do strictly commercial trucks. Donno if they're still around even.

This thing keeps popping up on the radar. It is NOT a GM sponsored concept. A dealership built it on their own dime, most likely to present it to GM as an idea to bring back the K5 in a more modern (at the time) approach. GM didn't go for it. I remember reading about it when it was new, most likely in a GM dealership newsletter. I was working at a Caddy dealer at the time.

The d max is an Isuzu / GM creation, a lot of the components of the engine ( heads for sure) are cast overseas then shipped here to be assembled.

Looks like the offspring of a Rodeo and Tahoe. It probably doesn't even have a solid front axle.

Its about as ugly as a Pontiac Aztec and I think the Aztec was voted ugliest car ever? :dunno:

Also everyone needs to just stop bitching about solid front axles. We will NEVER see on under a GM truck ever again. Just like how we will never see a manual transmission in a GM truck. (BTW most manufacturers are leaning that way of IFS and auto trannies) Its a sign of the times...

People are too lazy, stupid and uncoordinated to use a clutch anymore, and want a truck that rides like a car, :doah: bunch of pampered spoiled women :D ..........

Exactly, all the 1500s are like that. Just wait until the next redesigned 3/4 and 1 ton trucks from Ford and Dodge and I would put money on them being all auto and IFS
