Hey guys I have a 85 k5 m1009 with a banks turbo'd 6.2. Other then the turbo all I've done is installed a radio and put 33's on it. Ok well I've recently used my 4-wheel drive and since then my truck will randomly start to pull to the right then a very loud knock and will then free up. The noise comes from the right front as well as some scweaking. Any help y'all give me will be appreciated. Thanks

Maybe the wheel bearings? Try jacking the front up and spinning/rocking the wheel to see if there is any play. If you can't turn it by hand then youre bearings exploded and you'll need to tear it down to the spindle. (I know because this happened to me.. driving at 50mph and then BANG lost control for a second but then regained and pulled over)

Ok I'll check those things this weekend. From what I can tell it isn't a steering problem cause there isn't an excessive play in the wheel. It drives fine until it make a rubbing noise then it pulls and pops then continues to drive fine for awhile. I've gone days with out it happening and it's also happened several times within a few miles

Your rig doesn't have "auto hubs" does it? If so I would look there .

Bearings. You have one failing. I suggest not driving it anymore.

I have personal experience with exactly the same symptoms your talking about. And when the bearing finally tore itself apart it started cutting into my spindle.

It would pop and wiggle like your saying and then eventually just popped and my pass side wheel was tilted inward

No every thing is Maneul

Just checking, in that case I agree with the others on the bearing being the culprit, and like mentioned, stop driving it now and fix it before it becomes more $$$$ .

axle joints can cause some really weird issues even with the hubs unlocked.

Are you talking about u joints on the end of the axle shafts? If so they would not be causing his problem since with the Hubs unlocked and the transfer case in 2wd drive, the axles are not spinning,

Actually, I was having this problem whether or not it was in 4x4 and it was the wheel joints in the end. Ended up replacing the steering box and a bunch of other things and it wasn't any of them. Finally I took it in to have the wheel joint replaced and that was the problem. The joint wasn't flexible like it should have been and would "grab" from time to time causing this pulling sensation and then it lets go.
